I know I look rough but it’s already been 12 months on T for me! I couldn’t have done it without my beautiful friend family and my amazing girlfriend. I could go as far as to list all of the people in my life that I’m thankful for but I’m sure I’d run out of characters before I wrote all the names down. Whether you’ve supported me from the beginning of my transition or only recently began to understand why I am the way I am/maybe we just became acquainted I could never ever thank you guys enough. I apologize for my awkwardness in the new voice update- I just am elated at where I am with my progress right now. The idea for this strip came from a conversation Heidi and I were having while driving home from Walmart after also eating at a local Bob Evans. We noticed a sharp increase in shitty glares sent our way and we're goofily making the faces back and forth. I quickly realized that it was a perfect idea for the strip.

Shocked about what I am hearing about the American governments plans to determine gender at birth as male or female and making this your gender for life. To be honoured is rewarding. To be recognised is a a blessing. To be the second of the the only 2 Afro people in the ceremony is a statement, even if it only means something to me myself and I. Being trans in this day and age is not only difficult, but will literally drive you insane. Every aspect of your life becomes public, and you no longer have privacy. Suddenly, the size, shape, and form of your genitalia becomes everyone’s business. Suddenly, the only thing that makes you valid in this world is your ability to conform to society’s idea of “normal”. Suddenly, your sexuality becomes a dinner table topic, and no one actually seems to care what you tell them because somehow your gender is connected to your sexuality and everyone seems to know who and what you are. You loose friends, even family, and at the end of the day you are left stripped, alone, and hating yourself. So, if you are reading this, please take the time to consider what I have said here. And if you, like me, are transgender or gender nonconforming, take a look at yourself in the mirror and don’t stop until you can say “I am beautiful,” and truly mean it.
