Following the disturbing news from the Pokemon Company yesterday:
I’d like to say a few words.
For those of you who haven’t heard yet, yesterday during the Nintendo’s coverage of the upcoming Generation 8 games, it was officially announced that the Pokemon Transfer option will be unavailable for all creatures that do not appear in the Galar Dex. This means that we can no longer bring our old Pokemon over into the new generation games with us (unless, of course, they appear in the Galar Dex). Basically, they are completely doing away with the National Dex.
Pissed off yet? Yeah, we all are.
HOWEVER: I ask you to consider the following points before deciding, in a fit of rage, to completely and utterly boycott your favorite series that goes all the way back to your childhood.
1. There are too many Pokemon now. We had to eventually realize that this moment would come. There is no longer enough memory to register this many monsters in a single game. After Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Generation 7 finally culminated with well over 800 creatures--and now the Pokemon Company is bringing us even more. Probably a lot more. Could be a hundred, a hundred and fifty more. Think about that. Can we really expect them to cram this much data into one game and THEN expect a great storyline with wonderful character arcs and deep plot development, too? Something has to give.
2. Masuda-san and his team are human beings. Designing the next installment of the most explosive video game series on the planet is stressful. They want to make everybody happy, but they can’t. They can’t give us everything that we want. This was likely an extremely difficult decision for them to make and yes, they do realize that they are upsetting a lot of people with this. But realize what this means for the rest of the game--they can give us more Pokemon to play with now. They can bring their vision to life, with as much brilliance as they’ve imagined it. They can give us the best experience possible by using their available blocks of data as efficiently as possible.
3. Look what happened the LAST time they tried to include the National Dex, and ask yourself, if you really want a repeat of that.
The Generation 5 games were great. And then, what happened?
Kalos.
I think we can all say that Generation 6 was lacking in a lot of things. The plot was not terribly engaging, and neither were the characters. Hell, I hardly remember Lysander at all. A good villain should stand out in our memories, shouldn’t they? And look at the Generation 6 National Dex: we were pretty dissatisfied with the tiny amounts of new Pokemon they added. It was basically a generation of Mega-Evolutions of things that already existed; which was okay, but what we really wanted was more good shit to hunt down, catch, and befriend. But they couldn’t give us that, because they voted for the National Dex and major cuts to the final product.
For Alola, they removed the National Dex and everybody was kind of upset about it (myself included), but at least we could transfer our old Pokemon in. This choice also forced the team to make major data cuts and sacrifices--a sacrifice that has been voted out for the Generation 8 games. On the plus side, Alola was a much better adventure than Kalos. But it likely wasn’t everything that it could have been, had they decided to completely remove the transfer option.
So please ask yourself: do you really want another Kalos region? Or would you rather have lots of new, good babies to collect and befriend in a gorgeous, colorful world full of emotion, power and heart?
4. This is the final decision of the team, and there is nothing we can do about it. We can bitch and whine and complain, and push for them to create an app that includes the entire Dex so that we can transfer everything in from our old games. But it won’t change much. I seriously doubt that any change is going to happen, because of the decision they’ve made to use their data blocks so efficiently this time around. However, our old friends aren’t dying. They’re so happy in their little Poke Pelagos, playing together and spelunking and collecting treasures and watering berries and relaxing in hot springs. They’re in paradise. Let them enjoy themselves. They will always be there for us, whenever we want to have a good ol’ nostalgic run of an older generation. And nobody is stopping you from firing up Alola every day and pulling out that blessed Blaziken that you chose as your starter on Ruby version when you were nine years old, rubbing his fluffy chest, and feeding him treats for eternity. He loves that; keep doing it. You are not required to forget about him. :)
Please take a moment to imagine how fucking amazing these upcoming games are going to be, and the incredible amounts of potential that they have, now that Nintendo has pressed the reset button on the National Dex. Yes, it’s upsetting. Yes--I, too, am upset. But we have to look toward the future now and know that we can expect great things. Rest assured that they are giving us the best possible Galar experience, whether we realize it at this point or not. At the end of the day, we are all Pokemon Trainers. Traveling to new places, meeting new characters, hunting and catching new Pokemon--that’s what being a Trainer is all about, and that’s the experience they want to give us in the most dynamic and enthralling way that they can possibly offer it to us.
Give the games a chance. Who knows; this major decision may just be worth it in the end.

With all the transfer rumours and links to “articles” on Facebook, I expected some not very nice comments about Benni but 99.9% of the Schalker who commented said nothing but nice things.
So many comments like
“He’s always given his all for us”
“He shows respect by saying he won’t stay in Germany“
“I wish him luck, he will be sorely missed”
“Thanks for the great time with you at Schalke and for your genuine commitment to the fans and the club"
“At least he’s been honest”
“He will leave with dignity and grace and respect”
“A player of his calibre deserves CL every year and everyone knows how good he has been for us. Good luck Bene”
“No one could blame him, he’s always been honest”
“It would be a real shame for us but we will understand”
“Who would blame him, he always gives 100% for us. He turned down Bayern and goes to England which shows respect”
“If Benni goes we [Schalke] will lose a part of our souls”
And Idk but I just love us and I love how much people respect and admire Benni.
And if he does leave, at least he will do it with class and go with our well wishes and thanks.

ok so far ithaca, emerson, and usc are on my list for theater production/management and im gonna try to find maybe one or two more schools to apply to i think?? omg im really nervous theres so much paper work i have to do so that i can transfer and basically nothing carries over but its ok because im gonna get to study theater!!!!!!!
Someone else in my a cappella group is transferring to another school and I sent him a message all like "I know what you're going through and I support you" and he sent a really nice message back and yeah.
Having support through all this is what's making it worth it.
