Episode 1 - Reunion
Transcript of my gameplay, Castielâs route as Castielâs ex.
Part 1 - Registration
I didnât think Iâd ever come back to this town. I had to move away with my parents when dad got transferred⊠I thought Iâd be gone for good since high school was over⊠Out of all university Art History programs to choose from, the one I picked had to bring me here! Chance put a surprising twist on things sometimes⊠In her last text message Rosa, my old best friend from high school, asked me to meet in front of the Art building entrance. I donât know if Iâm even going to recognise her after all this time. Who knows maybe everything has changed between us. After all, itâs been four years. Seriously, thereâs really nothing for me to worry about, itâs Rosalya. We got along great back then, itâll be the same now! When I left we texted each other all the time in the beginning. We were both very busy with school, new friends, and we ended up texting less and less⊠After a few months we had pretty much stopped texting one another all together. I forgot to answer a message, and then I never did it. Gosh, I have a big knot in my stomach, itâs so dumb. Get a hold of yourself Tetrakys!
Rosa: âTetrakys! I canât believe it! You are beautiful.â
Me: âOh, thanks Rosalya. You are not looking too bad yourself! That haircut is totally sexy!â
Rosa: âOh⊠Thanks. I have actually been wearing my hair like this for quite a while. I am so glad you got in touch with me when you got back.â
Me: âI was so excited about seeing you again.â
Rosa: âWe have got lots of catch up on! The others are going to be thrilled to see you again!â
Me: âFor sure! I havenât heard from anyone in a long time. Have you stayed in contact with some of the old Sweet Amoris crowd?â
Rosa: âLots of them have gone to live somewhere else. Others are still here⊠Youâll most likely get the chance to run into a few of them.â
Me: âAnd any news about Castiel?â
Rosa: âWell, you know, we never were real close. But his new band is doing really well! There are posters of him around town pretty often. I hope it hasnât gone to his headâŠâ
Me: âOh really?! Thatâs great, Iâm glad for himâŠâ
After high school, Lysander left the city too. Castiel continued to play guitar, alone, but he told me he didnât want to start another group. He must have changed his mind⊠At the same time, itâs been years since Iâve talked to him. I was so angry with my parents for having made me follow them back then. But we couldnât afford to pay for an apartment or dorm room on campus. Plus, I donât know if I would have been capable of taking care of myself at 17 years old⊠It was a real trial for Castiel and I to be apart from one another⊠In just one year, we were able to see one another three times. Mom and Dad couldnât pay for my train tickets every weekend⊠And it was the same for him. The distance got the best of the both of us. Our separation wasnât easy⊠It was very painful, but we couldnât keep going like that.
Rosa: âIs everything alright?â
Me: âS-Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts.â
Rosa: âWell, thatâs not everything, but I have to give you a tour of the campus! Did you register?â
Me: âNot in my major, I have to officially validate my arrival.â
Rosa: âIâll come with you! Now that I have found you again, Iâll ne-ver-let-you-go, Tetrakys!â
Me: âItâs almost scary when you say it like that!â
Rosa: âAdmit that you missed me.â
I looked at her, feeling a wave of nostalgia â that Iâd tried to hold back until now â totally overwhelm me.
Me: âEven more than you think Rosa⊠Knowing that I am going to experience this new adventure in your company⊠That changes everything.â
She hugged me and I hugged her back, feeling kind of excited.
Rosa: âOkay, come on, letâs get a grip! Your registration isnât going to get done all by itself. It shouldnât be too complicated; pretty often registrations are held in a classroom.â
Me: âGreat! Letâs go!â
Me: âGreat! Letâs go!â
There are a lot of people in this university⊠Itâs much bigger than where I was before⊠I am glad to have Rosalya coming along with me⊠It makes it less stressful⊠Whenever itâs the first day of school, whether itâs university or primary school, my stomach is always in knotsâŠ!
Yeleen: âYou are kidding!â
Some people really think they own the place⊠Who is talking so loud like that? There is quite a crowd⊠WhatâŠ
Yeleen: âGeez, exactly what I was afraid of⊠Even in the last year, thereâs always someone who thinks they are at a circus! Cat got your tongue? Youâve come to the wrong place for sure, right? We are at the art college here, not in one of those hillbilly workshops you must be used to going to.â
Why isnât anyone saying anything? Sure people are even daring to laugh their heads off!
Rosa: âForget it Tetrakys, come on, letâs go. There are jerks everywhere, some things never change.â
Me: âGeez, I would have at least hoped not to see that kind of behaviour at the university!â
Yeleen: âPeople like you discredit the university and make the ratings go down. But fortunately, they never last for long⊠usually.â
I canât let her get away with thatâŠ
Chani: âWatch out, I know voodoo rituals that could make you swallow your tongue!â
Yeleen: âOh, so Morticia can talk!â
Me: âArenât we a little too old to be acting like that?!â
Yeleen: âGreat, a know-it-all, at least you are ready with a quick comebackâŠâ
Me: âLeave it at that. No one needs to hear your thoughts. Next time, keep them to yourself.â
Yeleen: âWhy? Canât she defend herself?â
Me: âDefending herself isnât the issue â the issue is some people canât keep from being offensive. Find yourself a more constructive pastime, you are not 15 anymore as far as I can tell.
Yeleen: ââŠI donât have time to waste with you.â
Me: âSo, what are you doing still standing there?â
Yeleen: âIt seems to me you donât own the hallway. Weâll be meeting again, believe me.â
Rosa: âWow! Our little Tetrakys has really changed!â
Me: âI am not in high school anymore; I am done with that kind of thing.â
Chani: âThanks, I was going to send her packing but I couldnât have done it better!â
Me: âSorry, I was fuming I couldnât help myself⊠That kind of thing makes my blood boil!â
Chani: âI have stopped having an answer to everything, I am over that now⊠But I admit it feels good sometimes.â
Me: âI admit that let me work off some steamâŠ!â
Chani: âMy name is Chani by the way. Nice to meet you.â
Me: âI am Tetrakys and this is Rosalya.â
Rosa: âNica to meet you too. I love your clothes! I am majoring in psychology here and Tetrakys is back in town to major in modern art history.â
Chani: âOh we are going to meet again Tetrakys, weâve got the same major! For that matter I just registered. It was moved to the main lecture hall. Iâll let you go. While I continue to avoid narrow-minded people!â
Me: âGood luck with that!â
Chani: âYeah looks like thatâs not going to be easy this yearâŠâ
Chani walked off in the other direction, giving us a little wave.
Rosa: âShe is nice.â
Me: âYeah, I think we are going to get along well.â
We walked into the main auditorium.
Administrative officer: âEveryoneâs going to get a dorm room, donât worry!â
Me: âBoy, is there a crowdâŠâ
Rosa: âYes.â
Administrative officer: âAnd stop all the jabbering! I canât even hear myself think! About my vacation in Italy⊠Pizza⊠Sun⊠No classes, no university, no noisy studentsâŠâ
I lowered the tone of my voice as I spoke to Rosa.
Me: âDo you have a student dorm room, too?â
Rosa: âNo, Leigh and I live together now.â
Me: âReally? I didnât know thatâs awesome! So Iâll most likely be roaming with a stranger⊠Since you donât have a room here.â
Rosa: âYeah⊠But that means youâll be meeting people, youâll see!â
Administrative officer: âHello, young ladies, what can I do for you?â
Me: âIâm here to enrol in the modern and contemporary art classâŠâ
Administrative officer: âOh, right I see, itâs with our new professor⊠Mr. Zaidi!â
Me: âOk. Do I have to go and meet him to enrolâŠ?â
Administrative officer: âAbsolutely! I donât know exactly where he is. Youâll find him in one of the rooms in the building, or in the dining hall, or⊠Uh⊠That way youâll get the chance to tour the campus! No better way to learn your way around.â
Me: âRight⊠I should be able to manageâŠâ
Administrative officer: âFine, good luck.â
Me: âAnd for the keys to my dorm room, are you the one Iâm supposed to ask?â
Administrative officer: âOf yes! Letâs have a look⊠Your name isâŠ?â
Me: âTetrakysâŠâ
Administrative officer: âWith a name like that, I could I miss youâŠ!â
He isnât exactly niceâŠ
Administrative officer: âRoom 719! And, yes, you are with another student, no we donât have any single rooms left in the dormitories. No, I donât know who it is. Yes, thatâs annoying. No, I canât change things!â
Me: âI didnât say a thing, sir!â
Administrative officer: âI was a step ahead, believe me, Iâm used to it.â
Me: âUh⊠Ok, thanks.â
Administrative officer: âNext! N-E-X-T!â
Boy is this guy adorableâŠ
Once we moved again to the hall:
Rosa: âI didnât think it would take it so long!â
Me: âYeah, neither did I. We havenât even started the year yet and Iâm already tired.â
Rosa: âIâve gotta run, Iâve promised Leigh Iâd help him at the end of the day.â
Me: âFor someone who said she never wanted to let me go again, you sure changed your mind fast!â
Rosa: âYou are the one making me feel guilty! Miss âI-leave-town-and-loose-touch-with-my-friends-for-four-yearsâ!
Me: âBut I am back now!â
Rosa: âThatâs true. For that matter, why donât we meet up tonight at the campus bar, to celebrate your return home. OK?â
Me: âBefore the first dayâŠ? Iâd like not to have a permanent headache for my first classâŠ
Rosa acted like she hadnât heard me.
Rosa: âBesides, Iâll have a surprise for you, too.â
Me: âAlright⊠youâve managed to stir up my curiosity. Way to go.â
Rosa: âI know you pretty well. See you tonight!â
Me: Yes! See you later. Hey! Wait up! Where exactly is the bar?â
That girl is faster than the speed of light⊠Well, I guess Iâm going to have to figure out where everything is on my own. Either I find my new professor of modern and contemporary art⊠Or I go to my dorm room first⊠Itâs up to me. I have time on my hands.
I walked into Auditorium 2.
Looks like there is a big crowd of students here⊠They seems to be hanging onto one of the students every word⊠Iâm going to get closer to seeâŠ
Rayan: âFor those of you who want to enrol in the modern and contemporary art class, you are in the right place.â
Oh finally, I thought I was going to miss signing upâŠ
Rayan: âI apologise in advance to the students who had a hard time finding me. I didnât manage to find a free room until now.â
Is he really the teacher? He seems so⊠youngâŠ
Rayan: âBut now that weâve found each other, weâre going to stick together for a whole year. Itâs a dangerous journey. I donât promise youâll come out unharmed⊠but youâll come out more educated! So how about that?â
Am I dreaming or did he look at me when he said that? Iâm dreaming. Iâm no better than all other girls eating him up. Heâs amazingly charismatic⊠with a areal talent for charming his audience.
Rayan: âIâm not going to waste time on the details of this yearâs syllabus; Iâll explain all that in the first class. Just be aware that if you chose this major, itâs because youâve decided to focus on Art in all its forms. And thatâs going to change your very perception of life. Itâs a great major for students in their last year. So let me congratulate you in advanceâŠâ
Sounds like he loves what he does⊠The classes should definitely be interesting!
Rayan: âIâm ready to enrol you now. One at a time, please.â
Everyone seems to be drinking up his every word. I waited a few second for the most spontaneous students to line up, then I got in line. I didnât have to wait long.
Rayan: âHello! You want to enrol?â
Me: Uh, yes. I think so. I mean thatâs why Iâm here.
Rayan: âSeems like youâre having doubts.â
Me: âNo, no, Iâm sure!â
Rayan: âDonât worry about not being sure: âIt is the uncertainty that charms one. A mist makes things wonderful.ââ
Me: âOscar Wilde?â
Rayan: âI see you know your classics, young lady.â
Me: âHe is one of my favourite authorsâŠâ
Rayan: âSo, there are at least two of us here. Do you want to attend my classesâŠ?â
Me: âAbsolutely. And therefore as such âlet myself be charmedâ, as you so eloquently put it.â
He gave me a surprised look. Rayan: ââŠI see.â
Geez, whatâs gotten into me!
Rayan: âYouâre setting very high standard⊠I like challenges. Iâm therefore making it a personal challenge: my classes wonât disappoint you, young lady. May I have a name to finalize your registration, please?â
Me: âTetrakys.â
Rayan: âSo youâre registered. Thrilled to have one more student in my class.â
Me: âThanks!â
Rayan: âIâve already told a few students: on my way here, I saw the cafĂ© next to Sweet Amoris high school is looking for a student to wait tables. Maybe youâd be interested?â
Me: âOh thanks! Thatâs exactly the type of part-time job I need.â
Me: âIâll go try my luck as soon as possible.â
Rayan: âBetween the two of us⊠There are only three students who know about it and you seem to be the most self-confidentâŠâ
He winks at me inconspicuously.
Me: âThanks for everything, sir. Iâll go later this afternoon.â
Rayan: âYouâre welcome. Youâve made me lose track of time, Tetrakys⊠Iâm going to take care of the other students⊠Have a nice day.â
I headed towards the exit. But I couldnât keep myself from looking back before leaving the classroom⊠This professor is⊠intriguing.
I went back into the hall and was about to leave the Art building when something on the bulletin board caught my eye.
Thatâs a poster⊠For Castielâs concert! Itâs a month from nowâŠ
I never thought heâd get so far⊠Seeing Castiel again⊠After all these years⊠When it was over between us, we never really talked about it⊠He was the first ever⊠to have loved me. Thinking back⊠If he and I hadnât been forced to be so far apart, we might not have ever split up. I didnât think our paths would ever cross again. I had kissed that period of my life goodbye⊠My stomachâs already in knots, just thinking about it⊠Still, Rosa and I should go to the concert; Iâll suggest it to her tonight.
While I was walking through the Campus Quad to get to my room I heard someone calling my name.
Melody: âTetrakys! You are back in town?â
Me: âMelody! I wasnât expecting to run into you here!â
Melody: âYep! I never left town.â
Me: âMelody! Weâre going to be able to get everyone back together in the old gang!â
Melody: âI wouldâve loved to! But I donât think⊠You know, lots of the Sweet Amoris kids left townâŠâ
Me: âYeah⊠Thatâs the impression I gotâŠâ
Melody: âSo what are you doing here?â
Me: âI came back to do the Modern and Contemporary Art program.â
Melody: âOh, with Mr. Zaidi! Iâm his teacherâs aide this year! In fact, I helped him organise all the events related to the program.â
Me: âOh rightâŠâ
Melody: âItâs the first time one of the students has been picked to be a teacherâs aide!â
Me: âThatâs quite a responsibilityâŠâ
Melody: âYou can say that again, plus Mr. Zaidi takes the role really seriously.â
Me: âBy the way, heard anything about Nathaniel? Is he still around?â
Melody: âOh yeah, heâs around⊠But I donât have any news, no⊠Iâm not interested.â
Me: âOh really? I donât have any news either⊠I wonder what heâs up toâŠâ
Our break-up was so rough after high-school⊠Sometimes I think I would have liked to stay in touch. My stomach is in knots just thinking about seeing him again.
Melody: âBelieve me, nothing interesting. Letâs just say⊠he changed a lot after leaving home⊠In any case, we never see him at university.â
Me: âMeaning?â
Melody: âLetâs just say he is more interested in student parties than studying.â
Me: âUh⊠Are we talking about the same Nathaniel?â
Melody: âI assure you, we are definitely talking about the same guy. Youâll see. Anyway, Iâve gotta run, Raya⊠Uh, Mr. Zaidi must be waiting for me to finalize the registrations.â
Me: âWait up! Tonight, Rosalya and I are having a drink at the campus pub to rehash old times! Wanna join us?â
Melody: âOh, thatâs so sweet! I hope Iâll have finished what I have to do, and if I do, Iâll join you!â
Me: âGreat! See you later!â
Melody left and I walked toward the Dormitory Hall.
Thatâs the dormitory building. Thereâs a part for girls and a part for boys. And we are not allowed to mix. I would have thought that once at university, ârulesâ like that would stop⊠apparently not. The campus is really huge when you think about it. I must not be far from my room now⊠Thereâs an elevator. Iâll check that out. It must be over this way. Room 719⊠So, my roommate may not be here yet⊠Still, I can hear a female voice coming through the crack in the door.
Yeleen: âYes! No, but wait a sec, itâs t-i-n-y! This space canât be meant for two.â
Oh, it would appear that it isâŠ
Yeleen: âI hope Iâll be with a little first-year student whoâll drop out during the year!â
Sheâs going to be disappointedâŠ
Yeleen: âThat way Iâd have the other side of the closet⊠I canât see how Iâm supposed to fit all my stuff in there!â
OK, here I go! Weâre going to spend a year together in the same room, nowâs the time to make a good impression!
I entered into the room andâŠ
That girl! Please, noâŠ!
Yeleen: âYou said youâd come!â
Sheâs on the phone. She hasnât seen me yet⊠Maybe I have time to get away and beg the admin officer to find me a closet somewhere on campus!
Yeleen: âItâs always the same thing!! I⊠Alright, forget it. Whatever⊠Next month. Yeah, love ya.â
She ended the call and turned around to see me standing on the threshold.
Yeleen: âWhat the⊠You? Seriously?â
Me: âYes, apparently.â
Yeleen: âThere are over 3000 students on campus and the two of us had to end u together.â
Me: âIronic, isnât it?â
Yeleen: âYou can say that again! Alright⊠We donât really have a choice. SoâŠâ
Me: âSo weâll make doâŠâ
Yeleen: âHere. Iâll let you get settledâŠâ
Me: âI guess I get the bed without all the stuff already spread on itâŠâ
Yeleen: âArenât you perceptive. That gives us one thing in common.â
Me: âVery funny.â
What nerve!
Me: âThink whatever you want, Iâm going to take this side here, weâre not obligated to talk.â
Yeleen: âWell, I was counting on that anyway. Iâm not the one whoâs going to ask you how your day went or sing you bedtime lullabies.â
Me: âBelieve me, thatâs definitely not what I want.â
Yeleen: âPerfect, weâre on the same wavelength.â
I get the feeling Iâm going to love this yearâŠ
Yeleen: âIâm Yeleen by the way, please donât take all the space in the closet, I havenât finished unpacking my stuff.â
Me: âIâm Tetrakys.â
Yeleen: âAwesome, great, thrilled, have a nice day.â
She walked out, slamming the door...
So, I canât let this get to me. The first day of class hasnât even started! Still, Iâm going to change clothes before going to the café⊠Better to make a good impression right from the start.
I changed my clothes and headed to the café without further delay.
Letâs see if I can land the job⊠I have time on my hands before tonight.
Part 2 â CafĂ© and Orientation meeting
I walked out through the campus gate in the beautiful sunny weather.
The campus seems nice. Iâm not used to the place yet, but I think I could be soon. Now off to the cafĂ©. It mustnât be too far. Itâs the same cafĂ© we used to go to back in high school. A part-time job wouldnât be so bad⊠This is definitely the first time Iâve ever done anything like this⊠Great, here it is. I made it. Itâs strange to be back here after all these years⊠Up until now, Iâve been checking out the campus that Iâd never been on⊠but this⊠This is different. We used to come here on a regular base. The cafĂ©âs changed. It doesnât have the same name⊠Itâs the âCosy Bear CafĂ©â now. Meeting up for drinks after class with Rosalya, Alexy, Iris, Violette, Priya and the others⊠All the memories are flooding back to me. A wave of emotion makes my heart ache⊠My eyes are all misty. I remember now⊠It was really heartbreaking to leave this town⊠And now I feel like Iâm a foreigner. I shook my head to try and snap out of it. Now is not the time, Tetrakys! Youâre not going to start crying tight in front your âmaybeâ future place of employment. Get a grip!
I made myself take a deep breath. I took a deep breath.
Come on, I have to go in!
Hyun: âHi, welcome!
âMe: âHiâŠâ
Hyun: âDo you want to have a seat? Can I get you something?â
Me: âThanks, but Iâm here for the waitressing job⊠Iâd like to apply.â
Hyun: âOh great, youâre the first one to apply!â
I got lucky this time.
Hyun: âIâm going to ask you a few questions to find out if you have the profile weâre looking for.â
Me: âOK.â
Already? I didnât prepare anything! He pulled out two chairs, as motioned for me to sit down.
Hyun: âHave you ever worked in a cafĂ© bar before?â
Me: âNo, not really. But I learn fast!â
Hyun: âThanks for being honest about that. Youâll see, itâs pretty easy.â
Me: âI canât wait to see that.â
Hyun: âWhatâs your main quality?â
Me: âMy sense of humour.â
Hyun: âOh really? Itâs easier to bond with the customers. Itâs the best way to make them loyal.â
Whew⊠looks like I didnât handle that too badly.
Hyun: âWhatâs a macchiato?â
Me: âA fancy coffee with milk, for hipsters.â
Hyun: âExcellent, thatâs a much better definition! I think Iâll change the name on the menu.â
I talk nonsense when Iâm stressed out. Fortunately he has a sense of humour.
Hyun: âA little piece of advice nevertheless, just call it a macchiato in front of the boss.â
Me: âSure, I wonât forget.â
Hyun: âOne last question. Well⊠itâs a riddle.â
Me: âOK.â
Hyun: âComplete this series of words: lunch, chocolate, tea, eatâŠâ
Me: âAtmosphereâ
Hyun: âExactly! The next word begins by the last two letters of the previous word. It was just a simple riddle to test your logic.â
Phew, that was a close call.
Hyun: âIâm going to take your application but unfortunately the boss is out for the moment⊠Youâll have to come back laterâŠâ
Me: âOh, sure! No problemâŠâ
Hyun: âBut⊠Would you like a drink? Thereâs no one around, and I was about to take a break.â
Me: âYes, great idea!â
âThatâs really nice, but I have other plans unfortunatelyâŠâ
Hyun: âWhat would you like?â
Me: âCoffee.â
Hyun: âIâll have the same thing as you. Iâll let you take a seat outside.â
I walked out the front of the café and the sun warmed my skin immediately.
The terrace is practically empty. Iâm going to choose the best table.
Hyun: âAnd here you are, Miss.â
Me: âThanks! I didnât even introduce myself. My nameâs Tetrakys.â
Hyun: âNice to meet you Tetrakys; my nameâs Hyun. Tell me, Tetrakys, Iâve never seen you around before⊠And we run into everyone here. So I guess you havenât been in town long.â
Me: âTouchĂ©, Sherlock!â
Hyun: âI love riddles. What brings you to our little town?â
Me: âIâm here for my last year university in Modern and Contemporary Art History. But several years ago I was a student at Sweet Amoris High, right next to this cafĂ©.â
Hyun: âYou actually know the town better than me; I havenât been here long at all.â
Me: âOh really?â
Hyun: âYes⊠But thatâll change I guess.â Me: âI kind of know my way around, at least I did back when I was in high school. But I didnât know my way around over on the campus, I mean the university and all. I get the impression a lot of things have changedâŠâ Hyun: âSeeing how youâve been around, I guess you already have your favourite places, friends and a boyfriend?â Me: âWell, I have a few friends from high school who still live here, yes. But I just got here this morning.â Hyun: âOh, right, thatâs what I call recent! Well, I volunteerâŠâ Me: âUhâŠâ Hyun: âTo show you around town! I wasnât talking aboutâŠâ He started blushing. We looked at each other for a second without saying anything. Then we both burst out laughing. Today isnât getting off to such a bad start after all.
Hyun: âI have to get back to work; I kind of went over my break time.â
Me: âIn any case, thanks! So hereâs my application. Iâm counting on you.â
Hyun: âAnd Iâm counting on you to come back later in the week. Clemence will be here all weekâŠâ
Me: âClemence?â
Hyun: âYes. Sheâs the cafĂ© managerâŠâ
Me: âOh, great. Thanks for everything, Hyun!â
Perfect, Iâm going to be able to meet up with Rosa the bar!
I ran into Chani on my way back.
Chani: âSo did you end up finding the place for registering?â
Me: âYes, perfect, thanks again!â
Chani: âIâm going to check out my room now. I already met the charming admin officerâŠâ
Me: âYeah, I got the once- in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience him, too.
Chani: âHe asked me if I wouldnât prefer a coffin. What an adorable man.â
Me: âBelieve me, as far as Iâm concerned, I wouldâve preferred a coffin.â
Chani: âThe dorm rooms are that small?â
Me: âNo, but guess what, youâve already met my roommate.â
Chani: âOh yeah, really?â
Me: âThe charming Yeleen.â
Chani: âThat doesnât ring a bellâŠâ
Me: âIâm the one who interrupted your conversation in the hallway earlier today.â
Chani: âOooooh⊠Her. Boy, do I envy you.â
Me: âDonât you though?â
Chani: âI know the admin officer doesnât seem nice right off the bat⊠But you could maybe try to negotiate with him to change rooms.â
Me: âYou think so?â
Chani: âYou never know! With a little luck, there might be a student who didnât show up for registration. Or a deadly virus infected part of the campus and the students had to be evacuated before they turned into zombies.â
Me: âThe first hypothesis seems more realistic to me.â
Chani: âNever underestimate a zombie attack. Never!â
She might not be wrong, haha.
Chani: âIn any case, you should hurry, donât forget we have an orientation meeting in a few hoursâŠ
Orientation meeting! That had totally slipped my mind!
Chani: âConsidering your face, I guess it was good I reminded you.â
Me: âThanks Chani! Iâm going to follow your advice. Want to meet up later for the meeting?â
Chani: âIâll be there.â
Me: âIâm meeting a girlfriend for a drink at the bar on campus tonight. Want to join us?â
Chani: âTo tell the truth, that would do me a world of good. I feel like today has lasted a whole year⊠Iâll reconfirm that at the meeting later on.â
Me: âGreat!â
Iâm going to go there right away. Otherwise Iâm likely to miss the orientation meeting.
I have to go find the darn admin officer.
I reached the Main Auditorium.
This is where he was handing out keys for the rooms earlier⊠But it doesnât look like heâs here. I donât even know why Iâm persisting. Iâm sure itâs a lost cause.
Suddenly a cute guy with blue eyes wearing a brown leather jacket entered the Auditorium with a confused and somewhat resigned look on his face.
Morgan: âUh, sorry, I must be in the wrong place.â
Heâs about to go back out.
Me: âWait! Maybe you can help me?â
Morgan: âLooks like Iâm not the only one around here getting lost.â
Me: âNo, itâs really huge here, donât you think?â
Morgan: âThatâs reassuring. I was afraid of being the only one looking like a moron.â
Uh well, at least there are two of us.
Morgan: âSo did you need help?â
Me: âYes, Iâm looking for the infamous admin officer who was handling registrations here this morning. You wouldnât happen to have seen him by any chance?â
Morgan: âOhâŠHim! No, sorry. The last time I saw him he was carrying tons of files. And he seemed to be looking for a nice, quiet place to nap without being seen by anyone.â
Me: âThat definitely sounds like himâŠâ
Morgan: âHe was mumbling something about Italy⊠or his vacation⊠or who knows what.â
Me: âYes, thatâs definitely him! All I have to do now is find him.â
Me: âYou looked lost, too.â Morgan: âYeah, I was looking for the dorms⊠All the same, a really nice guy gave me some pretty clear directions, but I guess I misunderstood. But that must be the only building I havenât gone into yet. The one thatâs at the back of the Quad.â
Me: âThatâs the one.â
Morgan: âAnd for that matter, now that I think of it⊠I remember where I came across the infamous admin officer! He was going into the library.â
Me: âOh thanks! Iâll head there now.â
I started walking away, then did an about-face.
Me: âBy the way, my name is Tetrakys."
Morgan: âIâm Morgan. Glad I ran into you!â
Once outside in the Quad, I turned right and headed towards the library.
The library. Generally, the perfect place when youâre looking for a little peace and quiet⊠OK, if he isnât here, Iâll permanently give up searching. Iâve barely got half an hour before the meeting starts⊠There he is! Gosh, heâs sleeping. Iâm not going to wake him up for this. Iâm likely to recklessly lower my chancer of him replying favourably to my request.
Wake him up gently.
Me: ââŠS-Sir?â
Administrative officer: âZzzZzâ
Me: âAhem⊠Sir?â
Administrative officer: âZZzz⊠sole⊠spiaggiaâŠâ
Tetrakys you can still make a run for it.
Me: âSiiiiirrr?â
Administrative officer: âGIULIANA!â
Me: âUh no⊠Iâm not Giuliana⊠Iâm Tetrakys, remember me?â
Administrative officer: âWh-what? Where am I?â
Me: âYouâre at Anteros Academy, sir⊠Youâre the admin officerâŠâ
Administrative officer: âWhat in the world are you doing here?â
Me: âIâm honestly sorry to bother you, I didnât want to, butâŠâ
Administrative officer: âHowever, it doesnât seem to have bothered you enough to make you drop the idea!â
This is getting off to a bad startâŠ
Me: âIt was to remind you about the orientation meeting! I wouldnât want you to miss it.â
Administrative officer: âThe orientation meeting! Oh my goodness gracious! I almost didnât wake up!â
Right, fortunately I was around just for that⊠and nothing else.
Administrative officer: âThatâs thoughtful. Thanks.â
Me: âAndâŠâ
Administrative officer: âSo what, you want a gold star? A note to your parents so theyâll be proud of you?â
Me: âI can do without that. No, I wouldâve liked to know ifâŠâ
Administrative officer: âWell⊠Itâs nice to see a student come and talk to me about something other than dormitories and changing rooms. I appreciate that, young lady. Iâll be sure to remember it.â
Me: âPrecisely⊠Speaking of whichâŠâ
Administrative officer: âLet me stop you right there; there are no rooms available. But seeing how you were concerned about me coming to the meeting, Iâll make sure I remember if ever a student is lost along the way!â
Me: âIf ever a student is lost?â
Administrative officer: âOh yes, accidents do happen!â
CharmingâŠ
Administrative officer: âWell, see you later, young lady. Have a nice school year.â
Me: âTh-thanks.â
I left the library and rushed toward the Dining Hall.
It looks like it just started.
Chani: âThereâs quite a crowd; weâre going to have to stand.â
Me: âIâd rather stay close to the exit⊠You never know.â
Chani: âI see you glancing over at Yeleen⊠You didnât manage to get what you wanted?â
Me: âNo, not really.â
At that moment a lady with striking yellow glasses, hot pink blouse and cool tattoos on her right arm, addressed the whole room.
Miss Paltry: âWelcome to Anteros Academy! Iâm here to present a very specific course that will allow you to exchange with other students in different majors.â
Different majors? So maybe Iâm going to have class with Rosalya!
Miss Paltry: âDoes anyone know what a self-improvement class is?â
Me: âA class that lets people talk about their day-to-day problems and the news.â
Yeleen: âNo need to show off. Youâre far from being the only one who looked into the topic.â
She said that softly, only Chani and I could have heard her. I turned bright red. But itâs better not to respond to that kind of attack. Iâll just encourage her.
Miss Paltry: âThatâs exactly what it is. Itâs a time for sharing about the news or about problems affecting the university or your lives, more personally.â
Mr. Zaidi still has that caring look in his eye⊠Itâs nice, somehow I feel like heâs encouraging me. For once, Iâm glad I wasnât at a loss for words.
Miss Paltry: âTo be more specific, itâs a totally optional class. Itâs up to you to see if you feel the need to talk about certain topics.â
If itâs optional⊠Might as well use the time wisely for more important subjectsâŠ
Miss Paltry: âBe aware also, that those who attend will get a âbonusâ recorded in their transcripts at the end of the year. And itâs always good to stack all the odds in your favour.â
I get it, itâs optional⊠But attendance is âhighly regardedâ.
Miss Paltry: âThe number of seats is limited per class. Youâll need to sign up early if you really want to attend.â
A wave of murmuring travelled through the group of studentsâŠ
The class doesnât seem to thrill everyone.
Miss Paltry: âIâll be running the course. And Iâll always be attentive to the subjects you want to discuss.â
Chani: âBummer, it wouldâve been nice if Mr. Zaidi were running it⊠Weâd never tire of looking at him at least.
Me: âChani!â
Miss Paltry: âDonât try to tell me you are indifferent to his face, even I got a little chill when I walked into the classroom to register this morning.â
Me: âI donât know what youâre talking aboutâŠâ
Chani: âDarn, my new college friend is a horrible liar!â
She winked at me.
Miss Paltry: âThatâs the end of my presentation; it was actually more of an explanation about this specific class than a real orientation meeting. But Iâll leave it up to your various teachers to take care of that when you go to your first classes next Monday!â
A round of applause is heard.
Chani: âSo I thought about your invitation. Iâve got two or three things to do and Iâll meet up with you right afterwards.â
Me: âOK, cool. Itâll be fun!â
Chani: âSee you in a little while!â
Well, since Yeleen doesnât seem to be rushing back to our room, I should go redo my makeup before meeting up with Rosa.
However, she joined me outside in the Campus Quad.
On no, I thought I was ahead of her.
Yeleen: âDonât make such a face. Itâs not as if we were going to be able to avoid each other all year.â
Me: âNo, considering we share a room.â
Yeleen: âBelieve me, I really tried to change thingsâŠâ
What does she mean Did she try to see the admin officer, too?
Rayan: âMy favourite two students!â
Her? His favourite? Instinctively, I wouldnât have thought she was Mr. Zaidiâs *type*âŠ
Rayan: âRest assured, I say that to all my students. That way Iâm sure theyâll all look forward to coming to my class on Monday.â
Yeleen: âTo your class, for sure⊠Thatâs not a pain.â
Does she really want to talk to a teacher about that?
Yeleen: âTetrakys can explain better than I can.â
Rayan: âIâm all ears.â
This girl definitely has a gift for getting me into uncomfortable situations.
Me: âItâs just the first day of school â thatâs always overwhelmingâŠâ
Rayan: âTake heart, whether youâre a teacher or a student, youâll always get that impression.â
Mr. Zaidi seems distracted, all of a sudden.
Rayan: âLadies, Iâll leave you to the rest of your day. Stay focused on positive things. I know itâs not easy, believe me. But youâll manage.â
He tightened his bag over his shoulder and left Yeleen and me to face. She headed towards the campus exit without another word.
I pass by the room and join Rosalya just after. Maybe thatâll help me forget the day. I get the impression today has been a series of misfires. The admin officer, my roommate⊠And now I wonder if I really made a good impression at the café⊠I have to stop dwelling on it.
I pushed my hand down on the door handle and managed to open it about 20 cmâŠ
It seems like something is blocking the door. The idea that Yeleen could have changed the lock cross my mind⊠But the door was definitely unlocked; it just seems like
something heavy is keeping it from opening⊠All the same, I was here just a few hours ago and everything was working fine.
(Push on the door.)
Geez, after all, itâs my room too!
I pressed all my weight against the door, showing with my shoulder and knee. All of a sudden, I got the impression that the weight pushing against the door just vanished.
Right, better for me to go into my room before drawing too much attention. What in the world could have been pushing against the doorâŠ? Oh no⊠Itâs my suitcase⊠It came open and spewed all my stuff on the floor, in front of the door. But what was it doing there? Yeleen must have moved everything⊠True, I left in a hurry⊠Now all I have to do is put everything awayâŠ
I started putting my clothes in the closet.
Itâs not exactly bigâŠ
I energetically pushed the row of hangers to make room⊠A little too energetically apparently.
Darn!! It looks like Yeleen had put one of her cans of paint at the top of the closet⊠And it went flying onto her top bunk⊠Thereâs paint all over the sheets! If she comes in and sees this⊠Iâll be signing my own death warrant. Still, what a dumb idea to put a can of paint up there! If she had been the one trying to put away her stuff, the same thing wouldâve happened to her.
Iâm going to change the sheets on her bed and replace them with mine.
After all, Iâm the one that screwed up, Iâm the one who should fix the mess I made.
I took off her sheets and folded them in a corner next to the can of paint.
That will be sufficiently explicit, Iâd sayâŠ
I took the sheets off my bed and remade hers.
My parents are supposed to send me the rest of my stuff this week. I wonât have any spare sheets. Which means tonight Iâm going to sleep without sheets on my bed⊠Great. Really, the year is getting off to a better and better start.
I put on some perfume and redid my makeup before going out.
Perfect! Iâm going to meet up with Rosa; things will be better there.
Part 3 â Night out
I donât even know where the stupid bar is.
I left the university campus, walked for a while and ended up in front of Cosy Bear Café.
No, Iâm in front of the cafĂ© again! I must have missed a street, itâs not here⊠I have to backtrack⊠A street⊠With bars. It must be here.
Rosa: âTetrakys! You found it!â
Me: âYes, thanks for giving such clear directions, RosaâŠâ
Rosa: âI was counting on your sense of direction.â
I nodded, smiling. She doesnât seem to have changed much, for sure.
Me: âShall we go?â
Rosa: âWait, I told you I had a surprise for youâŠâ
Me: âAnd so?â
Rosa: âTadaaaaaaaaaa!â
Me: âA-AlexyâŠâ
I feel really weird all of a sudden⊠In a fraction of a second, I realised how much I had missed him.
Alexy: âImagine that! Look whoâs backâŠâ
Me: âIâŠâ
I donât know what to say to him⊠And what if he were mad at me for not keeping in touch?
Alexy: âDonât make such a face, Iâm not a ghost!â
Without giving another thought, I threw myself into his arms.
Alexy: âHey! The way I remember it, I was the one giving you the hugs!â
Me: âSorry⊠Itâs just that⊠Iâm so happy youâre here.â
Me: âI missed you so much!â
Alexy: âI missed you a lot, tooâŠâ
He messed my hair up⊠Just as affectionately as before.
Me: âIâm glad to see things havenât changed! The two of you who still hang out⊠and now Iâm back and together with you!â
Alexy: âWe can reunite the dream team from before!â
Me: âGladly! Are you taking classes here?â
Alexy: âYes, Iâm doing sociology.â
Me: âWhat about Armin? Is he doing the same program?â
Alexy: âArmin was recruited by an IT security company. Since he pretty much hacked anything he could get his hands on, he was finally noticed⊠Things could have gone pretty badly for him. In the end, he was very lucky. He lives pretty far away now⊠But we still see one another for big family events.â
Me: âOh, I seeâŠâ
Alexy: âDonât be disappointed⊠Heâs following the path meant for him!â
Me: âThereâs no doubt about that.â
Still, he was a good friend.
Alexy: Donât make that face, maybe weâll run into him again; he comes to visit sometimes when he remembers he has a family beyond video games!â
Me: âThat definitely sounds like the Armin I remember, haha.â
Alexy: âWeâll see.â
He winked at me.
Me: âWhat about you Alexy⊠Are you⊠Do you have someone?â
âSo, what did I miss?! Tell me everything!â
Alexy: âIn fact⊠Not much⊠Nothing really changes.â
Rosa: âAnd how about we talk instead about the guy we ran into on campus this morning!â
Alexy: âNo, we will not talk about that for the thousandth time Rosalya, because thereâs nothing to sayâŠ!â
Me: âOh, now Iâm curiousâŠâ
Alexy: âSo, instead of staying on that topic, donât you think we should go closer toâŠâ
Rosa: âOh yes!â
Me: âWhat are you two cooking up?â
Alexy: âThereâs another surprise waiting for you, and sheâs not going to be happy if we take too long⊠if you see what I mean, RosaâŠâ
Me: âAnother surprise?â
Rosa: âOh, yes! But Iâm so glad to see you again I almost forgot about the rest! Letâs go to the bar!â
We entered into the bar called âSnake Roomâ.
Priya: âTetrakys!â
Me: âPriya! You are here too!â
Priya: âApparently you are the only one who moved away.â
She hugged me.
Priya: âWeâve got lots of things to catch up on and tell each other.â
Me: âThatâs for sure.â
Alexy: âRight, but how about we start by getting something to drink?!â
Me: âExcellent idea.â
Rosa: âSit down, Iâll go order a round of mojitos.â
Rosa got up, ready to head for the bar.
Me: âIâd rather have a beer to start with.â
Priya: âPerfect! One for me too, please, Rosalya!â
Alexy: âA mojito suits me fine!â
Rosa ran off quickly to the bar.
Me: âIn fact, lots of you didnât leave townâŠâ
Priya: âNope! But we were all really sad when you left.â
Alexy: âYou can say that again; I know one person who took forever to get over itâŠâ
He nodded his head towards Rosalya who is ordering at the barâŠ
Me: âReally?â
Alexy: âOf course, really! What did you think? That a great friendship is forgotten just like that?! You left us high and dry, babe!â
Me: âBabe?â
Priya: âHahaha some things never change as far as I can see.â
Rosa: âHere are your drinks, kids.â
Alexy: âThanks, mommy!â
Me: âWhat are you studying, Priya?â
Priya: âIâm in law school.â
Me: âDoes that means that weâll run into each other on campus?â
Priya: âMore or less, yes. Iâm taking classes at Anteros Academy too! And you? What has brought you back to town?â
Me: âThe only major Iâm interested in is offered here. I mean, I could have looked elsewhere, but I knew that Iâd be back in touch with Rosalya. But Iâm really glad to see sheâs not the only one!â
Priya: âOh! So itâs fate that has reunited us, apparentlyâŠâ
Me: âYou could look at it that way, I guessâŠâ
Rosa: âSo, howâs your dorm room?â
Me: âA catastrophe⊠Iâm sharing with the infamous girl we met in the hallway this morningâŠâ
Rosa: âChani?? But she seemed adorableâŠâ
Me: âNo⊠The other girl.â
Rosa: âThe other girl? Oh no⊠you mean the one you sent packing this morning in front of almost everyone on campus?!â
Me: âExactlyâŠâ
Me: âYou know, maybe we misjudged her and things are going to go just fine.â
Priya: âYouâre right to look at the bright side, in any case, if she gets on your nerves, weâll make sure she eats dirt!â
Alexy: âMaybe we wonât go that far.â
Rosa: âOh, we did much worse back in high school.â
Me: âTo tell the truth I was trying to convince myself more than anything elseâŠâ
Priya: âDonât worry, the law school building Iâm in is next to the dorms. If anything whatsoever happens call me for help, Iâll come recite the constitutional law to her to put her to sleep.â
Me: âHahaha, great method!â
Priya: âGentle but efficient, believe me.â
We sipped our drinks, unhurried, and the conversation turned to happier topics.
Me: âBy the way, this afternoon I came across a poster for one of Castielâs concertsâŠâ
Alexy: âThe real question is: how did you manage not to come across it right when you got to town. The posters are all over the place!â
Me: âOh yeah? I hadnât really noticedâŠâ
Rosa: âAnd you thought itâd be a good idea running to your ex-boyfriendâs concert to see how heâd grown up?
Me: âWell, I admit it intrigued me. Â Maybe he doesnât even remember me anymore.â
Rosa: âIâm convince he will.â
Alexy: âItâs a chance to go out, in any case! Personally, I vote in favour!â
Me: âPerfect! Are you in, Priya?â
Priya: âOh, yes⊠Like everyone in town.â
Me: âSeriously? I didn0t think they were that famousâŠâ
Rosa: âYou have no ideaâŠâ
I was going to ask more questions, but the topic of conversation changed. Rosa, Alexy and Priya told me a few university stories. Their teachers, student parties, exams, etc.)
Exams⊠Just thinking about them makes me dizzy! This is my last year, Iâd better not screw up.
Melody: âHi! Hope Iâm not too late.â
Rosa: âMelody??â
Me: âYeah, I forgot to tell you I invited Melody, and Chani should be here soon, too. I didnât realize thereâd be so many of us!â
Priya: âDonât worry Tetrakys, thereâs enough room for everyone.â
Alexy: âWeâre drinking alcohol Melody, I hope you donât mind too muchâŠâ
Melody: âNot for me⊠But do exactly as you pleaseâŠâ
Chani: âNot for me, either. I only feed on blood. You understandâŠâ
All my friends turned around to look a Chani with a shocked expression on their faces.
Chani: âIâm joking! Sorry, people tend to take me for a psychopath because I dress in black, so I like exaggerating some things.â
Priya: âHahaha, I really like that kind of humour!â
Rosa: âNice to see you again, Chani, take a seat, ladies.â
Melody sat down across from Chani instead of sitting next to herâŠ
Me: âHave you had time to see your room, Chani?â
Chani: âYes, but not my roommate, unless sheâs invisibleâŠâ
Rosa: âThatâs exactly what Tetrakys needs, an invisible roommate!â
Me: âYeah, my really charming roommateâŠâ
Melody: âWhat luck! I admit I feel a little lonely in my room⊠Iâm going to have to decorate it to make it a little more welcoming.â
Me: âYou have a room to yourself?!â
Melody: âYeah, like I said, Iâm Professor Zaidiâs assistant and I needed some room with my own desk. So they had no choice but to find me a room by myselfâŠâ
Me: âPriya, do you have a room on campus, too?â
Priya: âYes! My parents decided to stay. I finally managed to stop making one move after another and enjoy my life as a student to the fullest.â
Me: âSo do you have a roommate, too?â
Priya: âYes⊠But she seems pretty shy. So I havenât had time to talk to her much so far.â
Me: âMy dream⊠A shy roommate. Who lets you beâŠâ
Rosa: âYou are dragging yourself down!â
Chani: âHahaha!â
Alexy: âMaybe itâs a golden opportunity to get closer to her, Priya⊠Is she cute?â
Priya: âNot really my type, actuallyâŠâ
At that point everyone started talking about sexy students. Which brought to mindâŠ
Me: âBy the way, have you heard from Nath?â
Melody: âWe already talked about it; Nath has changed, end of story.â
Wow⊠Thereâs definitely a problem with himâŠ
Chani: âWho is Nath?â
Rosa: âAn old high school friend⊠Youâll soon see, Tetrakys. We havenât exactly stayed friends.â
This is turning out to be intriguing. No one really seems to want to talk about it⊠Itâs time to clear the air!
Me: âIâm paying this round!â
Chani: âOh, thanks, thatâs sweetâ
Priya: âNo, Iâm the one whoâs buying the second round. So glad to see you all again!â
Me: âOh, thanks Priya.â
Priya winked at me and got up to go to the bar.
I had forgotten how comfortable she was at communicating with everyone⊠A kind of charisma, whether you like her or not sheâs still amazingly fascinatingâŠ
We continued talking at the bar.
Thereâs definitely a relaxed feeling in the air. The alcohol most likely played a role⊠Itâs nice to be here, with them. I havenât laughed so much since I moved away⊠I ended up forgetting, but I really missed them all so much.
Rosa: âAre you OK Tetrakys?â
Me: âYes! Sorry⊠I was lost in my thoughts. Were you talking to me?â
Rosa: âAlexy was saying that itâs getting late and we should all go home.â
Priya: âYep, Alexy has turned into a granny now. We forgot to mention that too.â
Me: âA granny?â
Alexy: âAll that because just one night a week I decide to go to bed early?â
Priya: âWell, yes, itâs surprising. You didnât exactly get us used to thatâŠâ
Me: âIâm with you, Alexy. Considering my arrival early this morning and this busy day, Iâd really like to take a little restâŠâ
Alexy: âFortunately Tetrakys is the voice of wisdom.â
Me: âWhen you put it that way, I donât feel like playing that role so much.â
Rosa: âIn any case, weâll have plenty of time to do this again since weâve got a year ahead f us! Iâm really glad youâre back.â
Me: âAnd Iâm really glad we are all back in touch.â
Alexy: âStop! Letâs go, if you make me cry Iâll make you regret it your whole life, Iâm warning you.â
Alexy got up without another word and headed towards the exit. I definitely noticed his eyes were watery, but I didnât add a thingâŠ
We left and stopped saying our goodbyes outside the bar.
Alexy: âThat was awesome, I wish it werenât already over.â
Rosa: âAre you kidding? Youâre the one who wanted us all to go home!â
Me: âHow about we just meet up tomorrow?â
Rosa: âNow thatâs a good idea. After all, you canât start a year without a nicely filled closet.â
Me: âWell said.â
Alexy: âDoes that mean an afternoon of shopping?â
Rosa: âThatâs exactly what I had in mind.â
Me: âSo, weâll meet up tomorrow?â
Melody: âI would have loved to but⊠I already overdid it tonight, I have to seriously prepare the classes for tomorrow.
Chani: âHmm⊠Thanks but I already have a nice filled closet, maybe some other time.â
Me: âOh, bummer.â
Priya: âCount me out, too. I already have other plansâŠâ
Rosa: âToo bad⊠Itâll just be the three of us! Like in the good olâ days.â
Me: âWeâre going to have a good time.â
Alexy: âWith those final words, Iâm headed home this way.â
Me: âOh, youâre not going to campus?â
Alexy: âNot tonight!â
He winked at me.
Rosa: âAnd Iâm going that way to my apartment.â
Priya: âPerfect, thatâs the way Iâm going, too!â
Me: âNo oneâs going to campus?â
Priya: âNo, I have another party to go to. Sorry.â
Me: âOK, have a nice evening, Iâm going home too⊠Except Iâm going this wayâŠâ
Chani: âI still have a few things to do, too⊠See you in class on Monday.â
Melody: âAs for me, I have a bunch of work waiting for me⊠Have a nice evening.â
Me: âOh⊠OK, take care!â
I really would have liked for someone to walk back with me⊠But everyoneâs headed in different directions. So here I go. I can walk home alone no problem. It wasnât very far from here, it shouldnât be hardâŠ
I left the busy street and headed toward campus.
This alley seemed much more welcoming to me during the daylight⊠I donât like this at allâŠ
Strange guy: âHey sweetheart, you look frozen. Want us to walk you home?â
Dishonest guy: âFor sure, you shouldnât walk home alone at nightâŠâ
Oh no⊠Things are looking bad. Thereâs absolutely no one in the street⊠Except those two guys who apparently havenât just been drinking water.
Me: âNo, Iâm good, thanks gentlemen, but I live nearby.â
Strange guy: ââThanks Gentlemenâ! Why youâre welcome, young lady. All the more reason we shouldnât let you walk home alone, weâre âgentlemenâ and weâll walk you all the way to your door.â
One of them walked around me and got behind me, while the other one kept blocking the street aheadâŠ
Dishonest guy: âYou look under the weather all of a sudden. Iâd hate for something to happen to you, where exactly do you liverâŠ?â
But⊠Those are⊠Brass knuckles heâs holding⊠I have to get out of here and fast.
Me: âListen, I donât want to have any trouble. Just let me go home.â
Strange guy: âWho said anything about trouble? Just the opposite, we want to have a good time. An unforgettable evening, how about it?â
Doesnât sound like they want to give up⊠Maybe I can reach my phone inconspicuouslyâŠ
Dishonest guy: âIn your shoes, I wouldnât try to grab your phone. We donât need you to invite anyone else. We can have a good time just the three of us.â
Me: âBut you know, the more the merrier!â
Dishonest guy: âYouâre a real joker!â
Strange guy: âOh, come on!â
He grabbed my wrist.
Iâm going to knee him you know where .
I kneed him but the guy skilfully moved out of the way.
Strange guy: âOooh, she is a fighter!â
Me: âLET ME GO!â
Dishonest guy: âDonât fight it.â
Nath: âShe told you let go.â
A shadow approached us from the other side of the street.
Strange guy: âWho are you?â
Nath: âLET HER GO IMMEDIATELY!â
Dishonest guy: âSorry, man, I didnât recognise you!â
Strange guy: âItâs OK, weâre going.â
Geez, my heartâs going to explode⊠Iâm shaking uncontrollably. I hope the third guy isnâtâŠ
Nath: âAre you OK, are you hurt?â
I have to get homeâŠ
Nath: âTetrakys can you hear me? You must be in shockâŠâ
Me: âNo, itâs nothing⊠Iâll be fineâŠâ
WaitâŠ
Me: âYou know my name?â
Nath: âTetrakys⊠Itâs me!â
Me: âNath?! Nathaniel??â
My heart skipped a beat; I canât believe my eyes⊠It canât be him!
