Yello! So, people wanted some more trans!Mario headcanons, so, here they are! If you want bigender Luigi HCs, I can make that another post, just lmk. :)

ā ļø Also, these headcanons include transphobic topics! The relevant points will have a TW in front of them. Since there's a lot of info, as well, the points will start after the cut. :)
Mario was born (Deadname, I can add it if y'all think that's okay-), changing to Mario Aurelio Mario (or just Mario Mario, since nobody asks about his middle name)
He always felt a little different than the other girls growing up ā he got along much better with the boys, much to his parentsā disapproval (they [esp. Louise] were religious as heck and had weird ideas of gender roles at the time- [Marco was a bit more lax about it, but he did find it weird just how much (deadname) hated dressing up and playing with other girls])
He would begrudgingly present more feminine, especially around his parents, just so they would stop nagging him about it
He got hella gender dysphoria when he started puberty, going from an extroverted kid to an oddly introverted teenager, barely talking to anyone and mostly using sign language or writing to communicate
His gender dysphoria was mostly around his hair, chest, and voice. After choosing to make the leap one night, Mario cut off his hair when he was roughly 14, which he was promptly scolded for. His parents begrudgingly took him to a hairdresser the next day to get his butcher-job fixed.
Luigi was the first person he genuinely came out to. Luigi was a little (read: BARELY) surprised and supported his brother right away. Heās been Marioās biggest support through this whole thing, even after he met Daisy and Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom. Not to say that Peach and Daisy arenāt supportive, they very much are, but Luigiās his BFF at the end of the day.
Over the summer, they would go to the thrift store occasionally to get Mario some menās clothes, having to hide it from their parents as āthese are justā¦ birthday presents for a friend!ā
TW: transphobia Mario was dating Pauline at the time he came out to Luigi (~15-16y), and when he came out to her, she didnāt quite have the reaction he expected. She was a bit turned off by that, thinking he was just saying that to get her to admit that sheās not gay (she would later realize that she was, in fact, bisexual), causing a whole fight ultimately ending with them breaking up.
Luigiās GF at the time, Destiny, was accepting of it, fortunately, and even had her parents offer to let him stay with them if things went south with his parents.
Once Mario turned 18, he started doing low-dose testosterone in secret, somehow getting away with it until his mom found his needles and thought he was doing drugs. (Ooh, also, cue Super Mario Land right around here, where Mario somehow found a way to Nin to help Daisy. Due toā¦ well, stuff, he forgot about it shortly after he managed to get back, though.)
TW: transphobia Mario and his mom got into this whole thing, just as Marco was coming home from the store. Mario being dadās favorite, he stepped in, not knowing why they were fighting in the first place. Thatās when Mario blurted out that he was trans, in the heat of the moment. Marco was more confused than anything, but Louise was more than a little upset. (Donāt worry! They make up later!!)
After that fight, and once Louise was asleep, Marco came and had a little heart-to-heart with Mario. (I donāt have an exact conversation in mind, but he ultimately wants to support Mario, and is glad he now has two boys [for now, anyway]). Marcoās not the best when it comes to heart-to-hearts, especially with the kids, so the fact that he was willing to do that really meant a lot to Mario.
Mario at least kept his T stuff at Destinyās while his mom chilled out, going over there at the end of the week to do his thing (luckily his mom didnāt seem to suspect a thing, since Luigi usually went with him, and she trusted him to keep Mario āin checkā)
When Mario and Luigi were able to move out, Mario kept his distance from mom for a bit. They started working, too, and were eventually able to afford Marioās top surgery! Luigi surprised him with the money he saved up for their 21st birthday (fortunately it wasnāt much when you factor health insurance, but, still, this was HUGE to Mario) (this was also 1-2 yearsā worth of partial paychecks, so it was at least a couple grand)
Once Mario got top surgery (he got DI ācause he wasā¦ well-endowed, to put it lightly, on top of being a big boy in general), he had to stop working for a bit. During that time, Spike figured it was a good time to be able to pick on Luigi since he didnāt have Mario to help him. As soon as Mario heard that, he was livid, and after a few weeks of being back and having at least one more paycheck under their belts, they quit.
They ended up having to move back in with their parents, but fortunately Marco talked to Louise, and she was much more willing to accept Mario being trans. She still struggles with it, but sheās a lot better than before.
Cue the Mario Bros. movie thing where they find a random warp pipe and get to Nin/the Mushroom Kingdom
Post-Mushroom Kingdom
It was kind of hard to keep on T when they first got to Nin/the Mushroom Kingdom, but he was able to figure out how to make it work, miraculously.
Since Nin doesnāt necessarily have the concept of gender in any of its species, nobody really seemed to care that Mario was trans. They just saw a little dude. Of course, he was really worried about telling Peach and Daisy about it, even though they still cared about him and loved him anyway. In fact, thatās when Daisy found out their actual label (they knew they were nonbinary, but they didnāt know there was a word for it until then-)
Funny thing, Mario actually only had to (or, well, āhadā to) come out after Peach asked about his scars when they wereā¦ yāknow š (He totally tried to play it off as a Bowser injury, but Peach saw right through that. She may be an idiot [/aff], but sheās not stupid.) She didnāt understand what ātransgenderā was until Mario just explained that he was born a girl, like her, but he felt like he was meant to be a boy.
Mario doesn't have any dysphoria regarding his nethers (iykyk), so, he's pretty satisfied having gotten top surgery and being on T now. That's a successful transition, in his book.
