Broken Buildings - EraserMic
Quick description: Shouta Aizawa gets woken up late at night to attack alarms going off. Naturally, he can't find his husband, Hizashi Yamada, but he stayed late at his show that night. He'd be out there helping the kids from the attack already if he wasn't, right?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aizawa ran around the rubble of the 1A dorms, panic bubbling in his chest. Damnit, where were they? His students, they had to be here. They had to be. Maybe they evacuated. That had to be it. He hadn’t seen bodies amongst the stone, not yet. None at all, actually. There had been a villain attack on UA again, though Shigaraki, Kurogiri, Dabi, Toga, Twice, none of them could be seen.
“Sensei!!”
Aizawa’s first response to the call was to attack, hair lifting and his hands grasping his scarf before realizing it was, surprisingly, not one of the big problem children. More of a controller of the problem children. Iida Tenya. “What happened?” Were the first words to leave his lips, Iida launching into a very quick explanation over the attack.
They had been evacuated, like Aizawa thought. An alarm went off and they all left the dorms as they were told, not even a full minute before the dorm collapsed from an explosion going off inside. That’s when alarms rang out all over. Every student on campus had come out of their dorms, them all collapsing one by one from explosions. Iida didn‘t know more than that but was glad to lead Aizawa back to where the heroes were gathering to protect their students. Two questions lingered in the air as Aizawa joined his colleges. Where was Hizashi, and who was the traitor?
“Where’s your husband, Shouta?”
“He called saying he stayed late at his show. Something about a new intern. I don’t know, I was mostly asleep.”
“He’s not picking up our calls.”
“Probably on his way over then.”
“You should call him.”
“I hate phone calls.”
After a bit more bickering, a very tired Aizawa called his partner, only to hear him soon after with a near eardrum shattering screech through the campus. What the fuck??
Aizawa started off in the direction, worried Hizashi was being attacked. He tended to scream when he needed it. Well, he screamed with a certain other thing, but that was a much more fun activity then getting kidnapped again.
“Hizashi??”
“Shouta!!”
When Aizawa finally arrived, hands holding his capture weapon and ready to defend his partner, his eyes only travelled from where he thought Hizashi would be being dragged away to him holding a detonator, lips dragged into a wide grin. “Surprise.”
Horror sunk into Aizawa’s stomach, refusing to believe it. That couldn’t be it, right? Hizashi wasn’t the traitor. He couldn’t be. He laid in bed with him the night before, Hizashi’s hand carding through Aizawa’s hair, talking about when they’d be ready to have kids of their own someday. A playful argument over which tea to make that night and what movie to watch (Aizawa won, winning the coin toss and picking a subbed Breakfast Club to work more on his English), cuddles on the couch with their cats as he drifted off to sleep and Hizashi carried him to bed. That was normal. This wasn’t.
“Who are you?”
That drew a laugh. Not the laugh Aizawa was used to. No, it was cold and almost cackle worthy. It felt wrong, like it was someone else’s lips. Someone else’s voice box.
“I’m Yamada Hizashi!”
“No!”
“I’m your husband!”
“No!”
“I’m the English teacher!”
“No.”
“I’m Present Mic!”
“No..”
Aizawa’s voice faded, listening to Hizashi. It wasn’t right. This wasn’t right.
“Where’re your kids, Sho? Aren’t they supposed to be here?”
“I’m not telling you shit. Not anymore.” Something broke inside Aizawa. This wasn’t his Hizashi. It was a villain.
“Awww, too bad. Guess I’ll have to make you really go deaf until you can tell me.”
Before he could even think properly, Hizashi opened his mouth again and Aizawa reacted fast, hair loose from his low bun flying up with the activation of his quirk and lashing out, capturing his once partner in his weapon and dragging him to the ground, letting him bounce and hit his head. It would have made him groan if his voice box was back to normal, but alas, it wasn’t.
Aizawa walked over, eyes still blazing red as his chest heaved, landing a swift kick to the other’s head that was sure to knock him out for a bit at least. Hizashi’s ring was still on his left second finger.
Aizawa’s eyes dulled back to black and that’s when the magnitude of the situation hit him, sinking to his knees before an agonizing, pained sound ripped through him, pulling at the sleeves of his plain, dark blue shirt he had been wearing prior to being called out. It smelled like Hizashi, like lemon and vanilla, like sweet sap and comfort. Now all he could smell was cold regret and betrayal and that’s all the fabric felt like on his skin, like pulling off the once gentle item would get rid of the ants under his skin making him feel like a wounded animal, the kind someone would find on the side of the road and pass because they’re already dying, why save them?
It wasn’t until he felt a soft hand gently wrap around his arm that he came out of his head, tears streaking down his face. When did he start crying? He shoved his palms into his eyes, scrubbing away the images of the sweet nights spent with his lover. Nemuri gently helped him stand, a hand resting on the small of the taller man’s back. She was one of the few people that could just touch Aizawa without him moving away from them, and now of all times, he needed the grounding tool. He stared at the passed out, hollow figure that he used to call cute names in the privacy of their own home until Nemuri brought him back by clasping a hand around his, pulling him away. They had work to do.
Hizashi Yamada was the UA traitor, and this was the beginning.
(Click for higher quality) I drew a another Present Mic drawing because this loud man is the best :) I also kinda wanted to use this as a chance to practice anatomy and muscles but it kinda just ended up being a Traitor!Mic drawing lmao.
(If you've already talked about this previously please feel free to banish me from your presence immediately) I actually would LOVE to hear your thoughts on the effects a traitor!Mic scenario would have on Eri and/or Shinsou pls and thx
Ohohohohoho!
I feel like Eri would be mostly be confused and sad, maybe even upset with herself because No-Arms-McGee taught her that bad things are her fault.
Shinso on the other hand... He's PISSED. He swears up and down that if he sees the loud fuck, he'll beat the shit out of him.
It doesn't play out like that though. Never does.
“There has to be a reason...”

Mic is the traitor, is on the run, and someone finds him.
//
doggs is a fantastic writer. This fic hurts so bad but it’s so good. The way they write Mic, so casually cruel, and the way they write Aizawa, so pained and broken, is amazing. Go read, shed some tears, and drop some kudos
everyone: mic is not the ua traitor, that's just stupid
