Randy was all shades of aggravated. Years spent in the rebellion, but failing and losing never got easier. In fact, it got harder. After all the fuck-ups, wouldn’t they eventually learn something to give them an upper hand? It felt like he was only chasing ghosts anymore and it was getting old. Finley had disappeared, to add to the list, and he swore he saw the bouncing brunette around every corner. It’d be sure to drive him mad after enough time, but he figured he’d continue chasing the white rabbit until he fell down the hole. If he never came out, he wasn’t sure if he cared.
The streets held less appeal to him than normal. Rebel graffiti being painted over by patrol cyborgs rigged with spray paint modules. Some sketchy guy twitching on the corner, the bulk under his sleeve meaning he had more than the one wristband he sported openly. A group of teenagers giggling, pamphlets for the medical tests and the recruitment of scientific and medical staff for New Hope in their manicured hands. A brunette, ducking down an alleyway, her boots splashing in shallow puddles from the recent rain.
Randy did a double-take at the brunette, his mind reeling and his chest clenching. “Fin?” The name barely left his lips at first before he chanced after the girl, careening over a curb and landing in a misleadingly deep puddle to crash flat on his face, hands skinning on the pavement. “Fin?! Dot?”
Although there wasn’t a considerable amount of upset in her features, it did show on her face for a few brief moments. There were standing in a structure, one that they planned to either scavenge or look for for survivors but to Maureen’s dismay there were none. Her mind reeled as a sudden burst of hatred started to make her pulse race and her fingertips twitch only to become numb seconds later. It was a price to pay when dealing with a system such as theirs but these innocents shouldn’t have payed the price. She’d recognized some from the Outlander compound- mothers with her children, fathers, the list went on. She wasn’t sure how they survived this long especially with the government on the hunt for them but she could be asking that question to herself as well. If she didn’t have Ajax, Matt, and the few others they’d found along the way she wasn’t sure how she would have turned out. Her fear was that the government would recapture and try to reprogram her, a constant fear that kept her awake at night but she knew they had her back. “None over here..” she spoke up but her voice broke somewhat at the end. Clearing her throat she turned around and looked at the others who were checking pulses and checking for signs of life. Nothing, there was no one.Â
“The only way you wouldn’t be is if you were any less stupid than you’re being right this moment. It wasn’t a difficult question. Why. Don’t. You. Have. My. Package.” Winona was furious, pacing and knocking over objects as she did so to physically display it. Though angry, most of it was just a show to try to get what she needed. Would she really hurt the guy? Likely not. He was too valuable and she didn’t dispose of anyone she didn’t have to. It was just the simple fact that low-level dealers and traders irked her but higher-level ones were too risky.
Raelyn had always dealt with nightmares — being out on her own and pursued by androids and agents would do that to anyone — but she dealt. It was being chased out of the only place she called home and left fending for herself through the coldest months of winter that brought them back and made them worse. Day after day in freezing cold, barely protected from the elements, fearing her loneliness would lead to her death meant she was always on edge — Even when she didn’t have to be. Regardless, hearing a door open and shuffling feet on the floor made her wake with a start, gasping for air and reaching for her knife. “Who’s there?!”

“We’re still breathing, aren’t we? C’mon, you’re making more of a deal out of it than it actually is. Trust me, it wasn’t a big deal,” he grabbed the nearest guy who went out with him on the mission and put his arm around him, mostly to steady himself.
“Yanno me, travelin’ around the New Eastern front but I figured it was time for some back tracking.” Pause. “Of course I remembered the number, I gave you the burner-- look I’m stuck at the front and they aren’t letting me in. Guess Mac and Julian forgot about me or somethin’.” Pause. “Yeah, I’ll wait here.”
Three weeks. It had been three weeks since she had seen the rest of her team and three weeks since she was captured. It may not seem like much but the isolation was getting to her. Shifting in the magnetized cuffs which cut at her skin, she tapped the cold floor beneath her. She was underground in some kind of tunnel, this she knew. But where she couldn't compute. A rustling was heard out the door and she almost held the hope inside that it was them, her team, the Outlanders.
