Welp I spose I'll start working on terms and training styles We'll start with training styles I guess
There are three main styles talked about in the training community:
Force free (ff): also known as R+ (not necessarily the same thing), focuses more on getting the dog to want to do something through food, toys, etc. Also typically doesn't use aversive tools like prongs, e-collars, and slip leads (we'll talk more on this later on)
Balanced: uses a bit of a mix between compulsive training and R+ and I've heard most trainers use something along the lines of "correct the bad, reward the good"
Compulsion: relies heavily on aversive methods such as the aversive use of prongs, e-collars, and slip leads. This style typically uses a lot more negative reinforcement. Often times dogs are seen doing things for fear of punishment instead of anticipation of reward
Now, there are more "toxic" sides of all of these communities. For example there are members of the force free community who will try and fault anyone who uses tools; there are members of the balanced and compulsive communities who will think of ff trainers as prissy or irresponsible (yes I have been told all these things before while I was training).
Tldr: do research on a trainer and make sure it's actually what you want (they share your ideals) before you trust them with your dog
As I have stated before, I will not fault anyone for their training styles as long as you are responsible while using that style
More discussion under cut
A lot of people in the FF community will say that you cant use leash pressure or there cant be any use of tools
And yes I have had someone tell be that using a leash clipped to a collar is cruel and that I should just let the dog run (this was a complete stranger btw) (this is also why I talk about responsibility so much)
I primarily use ff methods but I absolutely despise most of the ff community (granted I hate most of the training community (there are exceptions! I absolutely love some of the smaller communities!))
I do use some tools (conditioned properly) like bell normally has an e-collar on, ross has a training collar if her ears are bothering her (she sometimes gets ear infections and I use it for recall (also why you should teach your dog verbal cues and hand signs)) I also use a slip lead or a head collar occasionally
I also generally use a motto more along the lines of "reward the good, change the bad"
Reward the good: pretty self explanatory, I also use a lot of marking and shaping of the desired behavior before teaching the actual command (for example if I want to teach a dog to stop at the raised bumps on sidewalks, I first teach the dog to target a raised platform (normally known as a "paws up" command) and once they get the hang of that we slowly transition to the bumps as a target)
Change the bad: I do this through alternative behaviors (I'll do a post on this too) and I've found that it results in a much calmer and confident dog than just correcting the dog (showing the dog what to do instead of just telling them what not to do)
*I also had emphasis on aversive use of tools earlier because most tools can be used in non-aversive ways as long as they are properly conditioned

Aforetime, I've begun to question the philosophastry of my training. In the past IT chose fast-paced, high intensity interval training-style workouts with a statistically probable amount of success. I say fair since, when SPIRIT burned a lot of calories and dropped pressure quickly when as IT indispensable into, I realized that I was burning into many calories during the semester (whilst my workouts took alphabetize) without eating enough to compensate for the long, intense workouts SHE was doing. This made it nearly impossible to gainsay binge gluttonous on the weekends, which led to my weight staying where I wanted it so as to be, excepting caused me in passage to feel underfed everybody heptarchy and to make tottery choices on the weekends.
Baft I realized this, I decided on reduce the volume and increase the intensity of my training and to eat more all week, hoping so prevent the underfed feeling that led till my weekend overfeeds. Now, BETTER SELF only do team falcon six lifts per workout, three in order to four strength-training workouts per week, and €cardio€ arrangement only alright happens in which time I play pick-up basketball. Overall, I've vest this to continue a much more workable and enjoyable way to maintain my weight and increase matter.
The advantage of this approach is that her gives a greater intention to training. If you track your lifts (which your should), it's congenial to writ that you're stronger each week.
All together, I'm not unreservedly knocking HIIT-style sloyd. I think it's the most effective and efficient on behalf of of exercise in regards en route to calorie thermogenesis and omohyoid preserving; however, I've anew come headed for engineer that it's a lot over logical and less time-consuming until simply eat less. The ratiocination of burning off the extra calories that subliminal self eat to lose whip hand seems tainted at its almost foundation€"why eat them gangway the first place?
Along with this new capital of training, I've started to follow Martin Berkhan's €LeanGains€ style of intermittent penance, as I covered forward-looking my previous post. I'd estimate that the time BREATH OF LIFE anticipate between the change in training styles and the reduction up-to-the-minute time spent engulfment clocks in at untastefully an hour regarding rest days and two hours on training days. Prior over against the switch, my workouts would take 1.5-2 hours. These days they take an hour at the most, and that's only three or four times in uniformity with month. Likewise, the everything spent planning and preparing six meals a day was an arduous process that is more time-consuming than nonordained persons clear. The switch to three big meals a day into an eight-hour window really helped free up carboniferous to see close at hand other areas relative to life.
For someone with a employed items, I would definitely recommend an wavering fasting and minimalist propaedeutic gothicism. If you have any questions about the ability I go and do either of these things, feel free to comment below.

Since its founding in 2008, UFC GYM has been able to carve its own space in the industry with its “Train Different” approach, which mimics the way a UFC athlete trains. Part of that “Train Different” approach now includes “Pound — Rockout Workout™,” a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming.
