We got frank having sex!!!
Just seeing those words sends my heart a flutter!!Ā Can you EVEN BELIEVE?!Ā Like we REALLY got it.Ā Just when you thought it was done, they slapped us in the face with more and more!Ā
Phew- just finished S1 The Punisher. All the feels. That was a great first season. TBH kind upset that he didn't reach out to Karen at all, at least that I know of at the end of S1. Now, I started to watch S2 and I'm kind of not feeling it? (haven't made it past 10 mins) Is that odd? Did you enjoy season 2?
The Punisher Season 1 was one of most beautiful, emotional seasons of any television show Iāve ever seen. And a knockout of a first season for a show, just blew me away in the best way.Ā It honestly could have been a standalone thirteen hour movie.Ā I adore it with my whole heart.Ā It did Frank justice in his story and his growth.Ā Ā
Season 2 was nowhere near that.Ā I enjoyed Season 2 for the superficial - for getting Jon back on my screen in a new piece of work, for getting Frank Castle back after over a year, for getting Curtis back, and for the fight scenes because Iām an action lover.Ā Ā Everything else I consider noise that I had to put up with in order to get those things back.Ā Ā I was left disappointed after going in extremely excited for what was to come after reading articles about what to expect.Ā But it all felt off and rushed and nonsensical.Ā I blame Lightfoot and the writing for all of that. I still hope we get a Season 3 for Jon and to be able to still see Frank, but if we do I will be very apprehensive about it after feeling let down after this season.Ā
i might just not be possible to reconcile the man who admitted to being scared with the one who seems to just want to war for the sake of it now. it's like he's in denial of himself but why?? and the comics demand he's a killing machine, so i'm guessing they will just write him as denying himself humanity continuously. i just don't think it's well-motivated. they may have written themselves into a corner esp wrt karen.
So the wording here is a little odd, but I think I understand what youāre saying?Ā Frank ending S1 by saying heās scared of who heāll be without a war to fight vs. Frank ending S2 by becoming the man he said he was scared to become because he realizes thatās just who he is now, and basically how can they ever show a shred of S1 Frank again now giving him that fast 180 turn in S2 - is that right?Ā If thatās what you mean, I agree.Ā Though it was very sloppily done, it seems theyāre trying to give off the impression that Frank has fully embraced being The Punisher which leads the audience to believe that any chance of him allowing himself any shred of happiness or peace is gone, which if thatās true, is fcking sad as hell.Ā I donāt know the comics very well, so I canāt really comment on how Frank is portrayed there.Ā
In regards to writing themselves in a corner with Karen, I donāt agree with that.Ā I think in the choice of dialogue they went with and with the way they left things, there is plenty to still work with for any future season(s).Ā Ā
Itās interesting to observe how alcohol probably played a part in Frankās one night stand with Beth.Ā He has several beers then at least one glass of liquor while still at the bar (possibly more that we didnāt see).Ā When Beth asks if he wants to get a drink, Frank first says no with the indication that itās because he feels like heās had enough, but once Beth addsĀ āwith meā then he says okay.Ā At her place, they have more liquor, then even after the sex, Frankās still drinking a glass.Ā Ā
I wonder if itās possible he needed that to go through with all of it.Ā LikeĀ āPeteā wanted to, for whatever his reason may be, but Frank knew that to really get himself to cross over that line he made for himself he needed that boost of liquid courage.Ā
p.s. this is notĀ an anti-beth or pro-beth post.Ā Just an observation and wondering.Ā

I wonder if season 2 is the first time frank has had sex since losing Maria
I believe it is, yeah.Ā Frank even says to Beth, who says the same, it isnāt something they do very often - one night stands that is.Ā Ā
I'm a little curious about the whole Beth the Bartender thing. I wonder if the writers will include her again in the future? They went through great lengths to have her son involved which leads me to think she might be back. Then again, it could very well have been some weird way to show that a normal life is something Frank can't have. I'm sorry if you've already answered something like this before! I just finished watching s2 :) Also severely disappointed in the lack of Karen :(
I doubt it for a few reasons.Ā What Frank learned from his very brief relationship with Beth was that people who get close to him get hurt.Ā He fully believes that once Beth ends up getting shot because of the fight he causes.Ā Ā And with Frank basically declaring his love for Karen, if he was to start a relationship itād be with Miss Page, not with Beth back in Michigan.Ā And in regards to Rex, I think he was just there to show just how hard Frank, asĀ āPeteā, was trying to start a more normal existence by having this family unit drop into his lap and him fully embracing it just about.Ā
officialpunisher: I don't know why they tried the 'just like lisa' thing when Leo is right fucking there lmao
Oh Cinthia, I am SO glad you said this!!Ā Frank had much fewer scenes with Leo in S1 and there were LOADS more father/daughter chemistry between them than Frank ever had with Amy.Ā Why Lightfoot disregarded the Liebermans completely is beyond me.
