TPOT 23 is suuuch a mixed bag for me. I know a lot of people have said it’s too fast pace and I fully agree with them, but honestly I feel like this was just a general problem anyways with TPOT opening up as many ideas and plot points that it doesn’t give itself time to fully execute them (and this episode is just that problem to the max). There’s like three times where they had to fill in the other contestants in about information that WE already know. Of course this has to happen realistically and I’m not mad about it, but I still feel like they used it wayy too much whilst trying to set up everything else.

AND I FEEL LIKE THEY BARELY SET UP THE MOST INTERESTING POINTS. Like we barely got anything with Black Hole, One’s character (other than being whiny and stuff and NOT knowing how to use the power oh my god)—although this is somewhat personal bias. Like I didn’t even see anyone care about balloony and announcer at all and then they suddenly show up now? I just feel like we’re throwing eggs at a wall and hoping for an omelette to come out of it.

And also another complaint that I’ve seen that I also agree with is that the characters—they don’t feel like characters. Like they have no independence as contestants??? I think that’s why it also feels so cluttered too.

But the main couple reason I’m mad is 1. the elimination was SO ASS. I’ve never been really upset by an elimination, not even with some of my favorite characters, usually I can expect it or I can at least poke fun at it—but this one was so bad it’s not even funny. How the fuck did WINNER who needs this season for their character and LIY who needs this season for redemption BOTH GET OUT…BY BOOK. Look I’m not gonna use the excuse of “oh oh book should’ve gotten out because she has bfdia blah” becuase that completely discredits by how little she contributes to TPOT right now, the most she has is her connection with pencil, and even with that I’d prefer Match to carry that conflict. Book, if anything, is only an amplifier to both Price Tag and Pencil in character, but neither of them need that amplifier because at this point they both have their footing as characters and Book’s relationship with them is practically irrelevant. Sighhhh I’m just glad Liy gained so much aura this ep.

2. Is more so how TPOT handles other issues. For instance—too many characters. Along with all the clutter of pacing and the story, they try and make the characters do too much, and because of that, most of the characters did not add anything relevant to the story. Like the whole song about them traveling the universe? Was not needed, even though I know it was added just to transition better and comedy. Also the other song about Black Hole made me cringe so bad I had to mute the episode because I couldn’t get through it.

3. This one is basically full bias because I’m salty lowkey. But if this entire TPOT challenge is for EVERYONE to kill One or whatever, how come Tree and Tv were not mentioned in this entire episode. I fully believe the writers forgot about them. I understand some characters fall through the cracks but how the hell did BOTTLE get recovered and not either of them. IN FACT, I WILL BET FIVE BUCKS THAT THEY DONT APPEAR IN THIS TRILOGY, and if they do, it’s just them appearing out of no where with no context at the final fight or whatever. Like how would they bring them in smoothly into the challenge, because then they would need to explain it to them what’s happening, whose where, how to defeat One—-that can already make the content wayyy more bloated. Unless those two have some weird like duo-story line that ties them back into the fight then I don’t know what the hell is gonna happen with them. (It’s unfortunate because I hold them both very close to my heart)
