Love it or hate it, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was a landmark in sci-fi cinema, reigniting the franchise and paving the way ...
Just enjoying some more time wandering on memory lane!
Revisit the original reviews of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace upon its summer 1999 release.
So crazy to go “back in time” and dig up some old reviews. I’ve been doing this with newspaper clippings in a box (and putting them into an album FINALLY), but this webpage is also interesting. Especially Kevin Smith!
“Of the film, I can say many things. But the long and short of it is that I liked it — quite a bit. I’d rank it right after Empire in a list of fave Star Wars flicks. It starts great, ends great, and has great stuff sprinkled in between.“
Am I confused, or isn’t Smith one of the more vocal bashers now? Just goes to show how people can be carried along with the crowd!
submission.
