Let me preface this next album for those that have not seen how the original Ultraman series ended. There is a spoiler below!
In action today is the S.H. Figuarts Zetton figure! This is the follow up line after the Ultra Act series, and the first figure I picked up from the newer line.
Zetton holds a nostalgic place in my collection. I think I was five when I first watched the series, and Zetton scared the bejeezus out of me. Most of the series had mainly kaiju that roared and had some facial expressions that the audience could read. We also had some aliens as well, but Zetton was a bit different on how he impacted the series.
He was the one villain that beat Ultraman... handily! (Yeah, I know. Gomora beat Ultraman too, but Ultraman redeemed himself in that story.) For a five year old that that grew up on a bunch of Hanna Barbera superhero cartoons that never really got hurt, seeing one of my favorite heroes fall for the first time blew me away. I think that's why the original Ultraman is still my favorite Ultra series. The hero had already established he had limits, and could lose to an enemy with the proper counters.
Enter Zetton! He was already creepy with an expressionless face, and alien chirping that just gave me chills at the time. I'm stoked to finally have some representation of the character in plastic form.
Zetton has a decent amount of articulation with double jointed elbows and knees, although the sculpt does limit the articulation on certain points.
The sculpt is a nice representation of Zetton in his original look with some nicely painted details on his back, and behind the translucent parts on his face and chest.
He also comes with interchangeable hands/effect pieces to recreate the couple of scenes from the final episode.
I'm definitely glad I picked this up to the point that I'll start picking up more characters from this line!
On to pics, Primers!
