to be honest, my interest in them as characters in general started because i heavily relate to them both. the todoroki family, minus their very obviously impossible in real life aspects because superpowers don't exist, is incredibly similar to my own. though i generally see myself in every todoroki kid, i gravitated towards touya and shoto the most because i feel they both represent two different ends of a spectrum that i was on for a long, long time
i've always favored touya's relationship with shoto the most because of how they tend to mirror each other in certain aspects and thought their canon dynamic, and what could've been had things been different, is fun to think about. i'm also a very big fan of the doomed siblings trope. as for shipping them, that... i don't know how that happened, but i'm here now lol
generally, they're a big source of comfort and helped me navigate my own feelings that mirrored theirs. they're very important to me
