• favorite thing about them

he is so important to me for a million different reasons 😭 for one, I love seeing a character with a dissociative disorder where his symptoms aren't quite so overt. I feel like the positive representation for people with dissociative disorders is slim to none already, and that positive rep is most often done with a character like Twice, whose symptoms are VERY noticeable (although i adore Jin, too!!)

& the fact that he canonically regressed onscreen was the cherry on top. I relate to him so much. I also love that his displays of affection towards other people are never explicitly said in words or affectionate contact after the incident on the peak, but still clearly expressed (like burning down Toga's house for her), and that it's still clear that the League cares for him in turn. my cutiest patootie. i love Touya

• least favorite thing about them

that cruel as fuck ending. what the shit was that for, Horikoshi? 😭 just tormenting my boy for no reason. he was not the worst villain in the series by a long shot, he had no reason to go out like that

• favorite line

my actual favorite line seems to be controversial on here among Touya fans so I'm going to go with a second or third favorite. he got so many great lines right after his reveal to Enji... I am very fond of his manic little "COME AND DANCE WITH ME IN HELL," but I also can't help snorting when he laughs in poor Izuku's face for trying to use the same on-the-spot therapy as he did with Shoto during the sports festival lol. those are the ones I like a lot that don't make me want to cry

I am extremely fond of his friendship with Toga, but I actually don't ship the two of them romantically at all! I appreciate ppls headcanons and fics about them having casual hookups and such but I really do think they're just dawgs. homies, if you will. that's his lady friend

I am a BIG multishipper and I can be convinced of almost any ship in one way or another. I don't think I have a ship with him that I actually hate? I quite like dabihawks, but i don't like them when they're lovey dovey with each other, so I'll go with them. I think they're a fun ship but only when theyre toxic and biting chunks out of each other raaaa

even though Dabi is a firm "don't touch me or I'll kill us both" kind of guy, I think that when any version of Touya is fronting, he's a secret cuddlebug. he needs positive attention so badly, and he is so touch starved and needy, but he won't own up to that when Dabi's manning the brain. also from experience some chronic pain can be helped via heat and/or gentle pressure. let someone hold you, boy.

also for a silly hc, I think that after Tartarus, Dabi and Shoto conspire to convince Touya to act up around their dad. they won't give that man a second of peace, not even from Daddy's Boy Inc.

Natsuo gets in on it, too. he's whispering in his ear like "Touya, tell dad that he needs to get you X expensive toy/food/drink to help with your chronic pain. tell him he owes you for being a terrible father. yes it's okay to say that, it's true. good job. now, when he gives it to you, tell him you don't want it anymore, but that you don't want him to return it. no it's fine. we're playing. he'll think it's so funny. dw abt it."

• unpopular opinion

I see a lot of people implying that he didn't actually like the other members of the League, and I don't agree at all 😭 of course he likes them! him being distant and closed off doesn't mean he doesn't like them! he very clearly at least tolerates everyone in the group, and imo he VERY much considers them all to be good friends. Dabi just isn't a "found family" kind of guy. we see how he treats characters he actually doesn't like, and never once did he treat a single member of the league that way. would you defend and then grieve over a person you hated that much ?????

i get that they weren't all as buddy-buddy in canon as they are in popular fanon, but he's not a total loner. I once more point to the burning of Toga's house :/

my favorite band is The Front Bottoms, and they have SO many Touya-coded songs in their catalogue. lately I've been listening to their really old stuff, and I think Taking My Uzi To The Gym is a very Dabi/Touya song. like different parts could be read from either perspective. also Playing God by Paramore is very very Touya
