I didn't even know you could play with two players! Love this!
we played using the WiiU Virtual console, and started the game with a wiimote connected by holding the 2 button as the game booted, and the gamepad as two controllers both controlling the game. We both had full control but I stuck to handling luigi in battle with B and he stuck to mario with A. we swapped overworld control depending on who was feelin up to it at the moment.
We're playing through Partners In Time now on an emulator, using a joystick with its buttons mapped to keyboard input using joy2key and the keyboard
