it’s about a nonverbal autistic boy (jake) who can see links between people and events through numbers and patterns  and he uses those numbers to try to help people and right wrongs in the universe!

it’s a really interesting concept and very well done, there are scenes in lots of different countries and instead of just using people speaking english with an accent, they use the languages of those countries with subtitles. (i can’t attest to the accuracy of the languages though)

the only downside is that it focuses on the parent of the kid rather than jake himself and there are some ableist characters but the dad (martin) is Trying to understand jake even though he isn’t communicating through words and there are some important scenes (like telling people that it’s okay if his son isn’t going to talk and they shouldn’t be Forcing Him)

it was really important to me when i watched it as a kid. i didn’t really know what it meant to be autistic and was still trying to navigate a confusing and chaotic world but here was a character who was Like Me. i personally find the portrayal to be accurate and fairly respectful

also jake is played by david mazouz (aka young bruce wayne from gotham!!)

Jake always uses the same Notebooks. In the first episode there's a scene where Martin looks through his stuff on his desk including about a dozen red notebooks, all filled. Jake always uses the same kind of notebooks

I've been asking myself, does Martin buy Jake a new one each time his notebook is full? Like does he go out every Saturday to buy his son the same notebook over and over again?

Did he just buy a pack of, I dunno 50 Notebooks?

Was there an abandoned luggage at the airport filled with a few dozen empty red notebooks and Martin decided to take it home for Jake, because his son's been scribbling numbers all over walls, tables and everything?

That's a really important question for me! (The last one's bollocks but still funny if you think about it)

Actually, yes, anon!  I am a huge fan of Touch (shame it was taken off of Netflix…), and I feel it was another show canceled too soon.  Believe it or not, this was my first exposure to Keifer Sutherland, and he was brilliant as Martin Bohm.  The only other role I’ve seen him play is President Kirkman in Designated Survivor, so I’m not well versed in his other roles.

The main reason I included that is because the fandom lit up for a while a few years ago, and I assumed it had died down given its cancellation.  I came across a few blogs (that are now dormant) that were still posting content, and I reblogged and posted content related to the show here shortly after.  In fact, I made a video using video from Touch’s pilot with Beautiful Times.  I shared this on the blog before, but you can find it here:
