Ladybug wasnât certain what exactly drew her to the rooftop above the Gala. She told herself she just wanted to check it out, the view from above would certainly be beautiful. She wouldnât admit she was hoping to catch of glimpse of Adrien Agreste who most definitely would be in attendance since it was celebrating the Agreste Summer evening line that had just launched.Â
As soon as her soles touched the gravel rooftop, a familiar sounding piano riff wafted up through an open glass panel of the roof. Guests had wandered out of the marble hall which was strobing with blue and green light and into a faery light lit garden that was hidden between the surrounding buildings. Ladybug sighed, leaning up against the railing of the roof as she watched couples slow dance below. A fire pit had been lit in the middle of the garden and she imagined she could feel its warmth. This summer night filled her lungs with a heavy, cool breeze that wrapped around her skin and pulled at a unknown longing in her chest. The roses from the garden caught their nectar in the air and it swirled around Ladybugâs vision in sweet ribbons.Â
If you ever change your mind
About leaving, leaving me behind
Oh, oh, bring it to me
Bring your sweet loving
Bring it on home to me
Ladybug swayed back and forth, forgetting about the blond she was looking for in the crowd and thinking of another. Chat had said he was busy tonight which was good considering she would be mortified if he saw her being a sappy romantic wallflower at a party she wasnât even invited to. She found herself humming along with the vintage tune, sighing as she watched a couple press their lips together sweetly while they danced. The girl pulled back and smiled so brightly at her partner that Ladybug felt her chest constrict. Why were couples so damn cute.
I know I laughed when you left
But now I know I've only hurt myself
Oh, oh, bring it to me
Bring your sweet loving
Bring it on home to me
The summer breeze intertwined her fingers and she felt herself being pulled around, her eyes adjusting to the warm dark of the night. Bright green eyes were startling close to her own and she audibly gasped.Â
âI thought you were busy!â Ladybug found herself whispering for no reason. She saw the white of Chatâs teeth as he grinned.Â
âI saw My Lady looking.â He said simply, then reach up to run a hand through her hair, stroking down her neck to her shoulder. Ladybugâs heart leaped into her throat as light as the summer breeze, Chat drew his fingertips across her chest to land on the side of her hip. âI like your new hair by the way.âÂ
âWell, I was never going to catch up to your length so I gave up.â Ladybug smirked, looking pointedly at Chatâs loose ponytail. Marinette might get speechless but Ladybug was trying her best not to, even as Chat pulled her closer until their chests were pressed against each other. He started swaying them back and forth to the music, his legs slipping to either side of Ladybugâs. Ladybug closed her eyes as he spun her, and then brought her close again, the roses mixing with his cologne which reminded her of cedar and mint. Something struck her as she avoided looking directly at Chat who hadnât taken his feline eyes off her face.Â
âWait, you said you saw me looking. Does that mean you were at the party?âÂ
Chat smirked, lowering his face so that Ladybug had to look at him. Heat shuddered through her skin as he pressed his forehead against hers. They continued to sway and feeling each otherâs pounding heartbeats beneath their suits. The music swelled, Ladybug felt herself leaning forward until Chat suddenly threw his head back his eyebrows knitted in emotion.Â
âYou know I'll always be your slave
'Till I'm buried, Â buried in my grave
Oh, honey bring it to me
Bring your sweet lovinâ
Bring it on home to meâ
His tenor voice followed the melody perfectly until the end where he sang both the corresponding high and low  âyeah, yeahâ with his face scrounged up in feigned seriousness and Ladybug laughed. It was a melody in itself, one Chat followed by chuckling.Â
âI love you.â Ladybug giggled, shaking her head at her partnerâs antics. She froze immediately when she realized what she had actually said but Chat just continued their swaying, pressing closer and closer until one breath in, one breath out, they were one. His lips were warm, caressing hers like the ambrosial June night embraced all of Paris. The song faded away, another slow tune pulling other couples out onto the dance floor below but Ladybug and Chat Noir hadnât noticed.Â
@lexicon145-blog Hope this is fluffy enough for you. The song is Bring it Home to me by Sam Cooke which, who knows why its playing at a Gala in Paris but who cares, ITS CUTE DAMMIT.Â
Let me know if you have a ML drabble prompt. Iâll do whatever :)
There are parts I like about this and parts I donât. I rushed it at the end because I wanted to get it posted but I also wanted to go to bed :P Anyway, the set up for many chapters to come has almost been complete so I think the pace will pick up in the coming chapters.Â

It had been an accident. She had been looking at Chat for what felt like a whole day and now expected to see him when she looked down. The mask and suit were gone though and in its place were clothes she saw wrapped around her favorite model not twelve hours earlier.
The mix of his long blonde hair floating in the golden water made his serene face look like an angel, resting his head in Mariâs lap. She inhaled sharply to scream but caught herself, exhaled and stared extremely hard at his face, then inhaled to scream again.
âI know this must be shock for you but it would really be best for his health if you didnât go too over the top.â Master Fu was completely serious but Wayzz knew deep down he was holding in his laughter. Marinette nodded slowly, her wide eyes still taking in Adrienâs faceâŚin her lapâŚthat used to be Chat NoirâŚbut was now AdrienâŚin her lap. It was as if eight years of friendly interaction and relationship building had gone out the window and she was the same fourteen-year-old girl that was foaming at the mouth in front of this one freaking guy. She kicked herself for being this way, thinking she was better than this. Surely, at twenty-two she had enough confidence in herself to not let this happen all over again.
Her heart beat eventually slowed down the longer she looked at his face, becoming so enamored in it that she didnât realize Fu had started back to his healing chants. She could see it now, even with his face upside down in her lap. In Adrienâs peaceful but guarded features was the slight upturn of his mouth, Chatâs ever present smirk. His eyes, even closed, somehow looked more joyful and easy, not like ones that were weighed down by a neglectful father and childhood of depression. In these little ways, she pieced together Adrien and Chat until they werenât one or the other. They were just this man that had spent the last eight years making her life better than it had ever been before.
Her heart was staccato again and she could feel the rush of heat to her face. The tips of her ears felt like they were on fire and her hands tingled. Her breath felt like it was too much and not enough all at the same time and for the first time that night, even through all the pain she had felt, tears fell from her eyes. They graced her cheeks before her head collapsed, resting her forehead on Adrienâs as she continued to cry with a soft smile framing her tiny sobs.
Adrienâs healing took much longer than Marinetteâs. His multiple wounds especially but it seemed Plagg was also having a hard time as well. The hours ticked by and Master Fu jolted Marinette from her half-sleep at 4:00 am, who helped him get Adrien out of the bath. She had not moved from their foreheads resting together in many hours and felt so extremely sore and stiff that it was painful to move. Adrien seemed to be in another trance thanks to Fu and Mari was instructed to go and try to sleep some on the cot outside while Adrien was bandaged up and ehemâŚput in dry clothes. Marinette was so tired, having left her and Alyaâs apartment almost 30 hours prior; she didnât even blush at the thought. Her body sunk down onto the cot on the floor and her mind was gone, lulling her to sleep with the gentle humming in her ears that comes after crying too much.
When a few minutes later, something deliciously warm and soft lay down next to her, she didnât hesitate pulling herself as close as possible, breathing in the smell of sage and cocoa butter.
Adrienâs chest hurt so much it woke him up. It had begun in his dreams, standing alone in an alleyway under a dark sky with this stabbing, awful pain getting worse until his eyes open and he was temporarily blinded by sunlight. That seemed so out of placeâwhy was he sleeping during the day? What about his job? âHe tried to sit up to figure out the situation but he was stopped by a weight across his stomach. His eyes drifted down to a single arm, draped across his bare front and then a leg so viciously intertwined with his own that he gave up all hope of regaining control. Things so were so hazy as he tried to remember how he got in this situation and the dark hair of a head so deeply nuzzled into his side that it was impossible to see their features didnât help matters. He attempted to move again only to stop when a question dawned in his mind as he felt coldness in the gap he made between them.
Do I really want to leave this?
It was suggestive, yes. Adrien would categorize it under Chatâs Noirâs thoughts but it was excessively tempting. He knew his body was in a lot of pain--that at least registered in all the confusion--but this person next to him so intimately made it impossible for him to feel tense. He felt so starved for this kind of touch that even though he didnât have a clue who the person was, he found himself unable to move.
Then that person moved to close the gap between them and Adrienâs chest seized so hard that he couldnât breath because of the pain.
âPlaggâŚOh my god, Plagg!â Adrien wheezed, gripping his chest in pain while simultaneously searching around the room frantically for his Kwami.  âPLAGG.â
âGeez, I hear ya.â The little black Kwami surfaced from in between Adrienâs feet under the sheets. âWhat?â He looked as tired as Adrien felt but this couldnât wait.
âWHY am I in bed with Marinette??â Adrien whisper yelled, trying to get his breathing under control.
The Kwami shrugged. âI donât know, why do you think youâre in bed with her?â Adrienâs mind raced.
The party, Marinette dancing around the kitchen, the margaritas! Alcohol! I got so drunk that IâŚ
Adrien shook his head rapidly. Plagg settled onto his chest to enjoy the show.
No, thatâs not it. Wasnât there an Akuma?
That sounded more in line with the flickers of memories Adrien was getting and when he landed back in the same alley he was dreaming about his thoughts stuttered. Had Marinette been there? It really was all a blur after running down an alley with Ladybug. His chest jumped again.
âIs Ladybug okay?â He asked Plagg who nodded.
âOf course she is. She saved your butt if you ask me. Probably should have picked her for my miraculous holderâŚâ He trailed off and Adrien rolled his eyes, knowing that he was the only person Plagg tolerated now days.
Then how did Marinette get involved? Adrienâs mind felt like a vat of syrup and he struggled to connect any logical thought. He continued to freak out at a suppressed level until Marinette moved again, stretching like a content cat and cracking her eyes open just barely enough to see the outline of Adrienâs face. It was a very enjoyable show, if you asked Plagg. Marinette squeaked in surprise and attempted to pull herself from the bed, away from Adrien who had definitely not been there when she had gone to bed early this morning. Unfortunately, Marinette forgot that the cot they were sleeping on was on top of a small platform, which she fell off of ungracefully, pulling all the blankets with her. It ended up with Adrien sitting up painfully in bed to watch Mari untangle herself from the blankets in a twisted mess on the floor below him, all blush between the two.
âAre you okay?â Adrien finally asked.
Marinette attempted to stand to get some distance from a shirtless Adrien but fell over awkwardly as her hurt leg gave out on her. Sometime in the night she had rubbed the bandage on her wound off so Adrien got a full look at the angry, red hole in her thigh.
âOh my God, Marinette! What happened?â He looked horrified and Marinette tried not to imagine what he was going to think when he looked in the mirror himself. Black veins were webbed underneath the skin around his chest wound, which was right underneath his collarbone. The wound itself wasnât as deep as Marinetteâs was, probably due to Master Fu putting more effort into healing something so life threatening.
âIt was the Akuma.â Marinette finally spoke, âit attacked us last night, remember?â
Adrienâs eyebrows knitted together in concentration. He looked so lost, and somewhat still asleep. Mari took a deep breath and slowly stood up this time. She made her way back over to the cot and gently sat down in front of Adrien. He was looking at her so strangely, like he was afraid.
âDo you remember that you got hurt?â Marinette asked. Adrien shook his head slightly. âIt was really bad, AdrienâŚI donât know if Iâve ever been so scared that you were going to die.â
âBut you were hurt to? How? And where are we? How did we get here? Whereâs Ladybug?â Adrien asked in rapid fire, making Marinette stutter. Looking into his green eyes, which had lost some of Chatâs freedom, Marinette made a decision she wasnât one hundred percent sure on.
âI was walking by the Akuma attack that night. I thought maybe Alya would be there and wanted to make sure she was okay. There were a lot of screams and I ran down this alley, you were on the pavement, all bloody and out cold. Something got me then and I woke up a little awhile later with this stupid hole in my leg. Ladybug helped us to this old Chinese guyâs place and he helped you get better. I donât know who he really is.â Inside she was cringing. It didnât sound very believable but she couldnât tell Adrien that she knew he was Chat. If the roles were reversed it would be such a shock. Ladybug and Chat Noir were their chances to let parts of themselves shine that would have otherwise never seen the light. She didnât want to take that away from him.
âOh.â He said blandly. He didnât seem to be quite with it until he looked up into Marinetteâs eyes. âYouâre okay though, right?â
Marinette smiled so warmly even her eyes were bright and Adrienâs breath hitched again. This was his friend. One of three people he could really and truly say that without a well.. or but⌠He never dreamed that the girl who completely hated him the first day they met would stay up until two in the morning listening him go on and on about why he hated modeling and his father and eventually how much he missed his mother. Even Nino, who Adrien considered his best and first friend, hadnât heard everything that Marinette had. The girl who sent him goofy pictures of her fellow fashion students and her to make him laugh and was definitely responsible for the secret stash of bakery goods he had at his flat. She had almost died and here she was smiling like they were having afternoon tea together, smiling like the sun had said hello, smiling like she did every time she saw him, and it nearly drove him mad. He wanted to be Chat in this moment, run his hand across her cheek and into her midnight hair. Tell her how dazzling she was with every fiber of his being and have her understand it because Chat could say anything. Adrien just smiled back, shrugging his shoulders awkwardly and chuckling when Marinette let a giggle loose.
âI donât even know what day it is.â He admitted, apologetically, as if that made up for his weird behavior. It didnât seem like from her story that she knew anything about Chat Noir, which made things easier for him.
âI think itâs Sunday at this point? Iâm not sure thoughâŚâ Marinette was looking really hard at the wall behind Adrien to avoid looking at his bare chest throughout their whole conversation.
âIt is in fact, almost Sunday afternoon.â Master Fu said as he opened the screen door behind the pair. âIâm glad to see you are feeling better, Mr. Agreste.â
âAh, yes!â Adrien sputtered, looking around for Plagg a little too late. The Kwami had hid the moment Marinette had awoken but Adrien was mentally slapping himself that he didnât think of it sooner. He was way to comfortable around Mari for his own good. âThank you so much for helping me and my friend.â
Master Fu was all smoothness and hospitality, wrapped up in what could have been a experienced acting career. Adrien didnât suspect a thing through the rest of the afternoon that it took to re-bandage and clean the pairâs wounds. By the time they were walking out the door the two were practically married but Adrien had no idea that they had met before.
âI canât believe you just spent an hour talking in Chinese to a random old guy.â Marinette grumbled as they very slowly made their way down the sidewalk. The both had been even a very bitter, green tasting juice before leaving which lit a fire down their throats and in their steps. It should give you enough energy to make it home but make sure you rest for the next couple of days to promote healing, Fu sounded like he was giving ancient wisdom over a glass of pulverized grass.
âI donât have many opportunities! If only you would learnâŚâ Adrien raised his eyebrows suggestively at Marinette, who only saw the Chat-ness of this and had to look down. To anyone walking down the street, they looked like any other couple, Adrienâs arm draped over her shoulders, holding her closely with her warm arm attached around his hip. What the random onlooker didnât realize was that they were each otherâs own incognito crutch. This was why Marinette couldnât get the space she needed when Adrien pulled a Chat and was left a red tomato for the rest of the walk to Adrienâs flat. When they finally made it, Adrien immediately called a car for Marinette to be taken across town to her own flat.
âWait, why didnât we just take one toâŚâ
âIt was just down the street.â Adrien explained, âplus IâŚI like walking with you.â
Marinette had to get into the car another shade of red darker but Adrien was smiling as he waved her goodbye. She blushed which meant he at least got something through with his horrible communication skills. Mari threw he head back against the leather seat and sighed. At least now she had time to herself for the rest of the day to think about everything that had happened. But then she remembered,
Today had the potential to be awesome. I woke up at 8, had an awesome breakfast and cold brew mocha with a friend and then bam, headache back. Then two other things happened that just triggered me into sitting here unable to do anything but try and put a cap on my emotional mess. I thought things were getting better but I think I was just distracting myself for the past few days. I have to at least work on my cosplay but even that feels hard. I feel guilty about asking for help or telling anyone my problems or even my dreams and ideas. I want to see a therapist again but I can't even get myself to vocalize it...

Thank God this day is almost over. It's not everyday that not only social media but people in real life just trigger everything all over again. I am so sleepy from crying and just sorrow. Glad I was still able to treat my grandma today and FaceTime with my mom and husband. Remember this day because it hurts but also because you made it through.
