So, to help explain why a character who was pretty good at what they did BEFORE the adventure started, I usually have some sort of "soft reset" moment. In Ashton's case, it was getting into a bar fight, and getting stabbed with a chair leg.
As of when I am posting this, Ashton STILL hasn't figured out WHY he got hurt. During the fight he was terribly drunk, so his memory is hazy at best - and he's starting to find out details about that night as the game progresses.
One detail was from a journal of his mother's that he read, and found out that the one who brought him home that evening was none other than Torbin himself.
But what was HE doing there? WHY was he being helpful to a family he's been badgering for years? These are all good questions. Ones I do not have the answer to.

You are both freshmen who take wildly different courses. He majored in English with courses such as language and Linguistics and film and media studies
Because of the gendered dorms, you both (most of the time, him) have to sneak into each other's dorms after curfew if you want to spend the night together.
On the orientation day, he walked you to your class, but he went in the completely wrong direction and made you both late, but he made up for it with an ice cream date that weekend.
Wants to sit close to the professor, but also doesn’t want to seem like a teacher's pet and sit too close.
Definitely plays frisbee on campus like kids in movies.
Outside of college:
Doesn't have a huge group of friends, but has a small, very close circle of friends who he's had for years; they all met throughout high school and meet up regularly to hang out, often times including you.
His favourite hangout thing to do is to drive out into the forest, make a picnic and hike to a lake or river to swim with you. Usually picks hikes that aren’t crowded and a peaceful for you two.
Sleeps in the most weird positions, think face down in the pillow, you're still unsure if he's breathing, or sideways off the bed. There have been multiple sperate occasions where you wake up, and he's not even in the bed anymore.
His room is semi-messy. When he has assignments due, it's like a tornado has been through there. But if he's free or if you're coming over, it's clean and tidy with a new candle burning.
a/n: Constructive criticism is welcome! He might be a little oc in this. I haven't written in so long, so I hope this is good. I think I will write more drabbles and headcanons for Torbin, and I'm thinking of maybe writing a multichapter story. Thanks for reading!!

This was a little harder! I was going to say Taking Over Me (yes, Evanescence again they're my second favourite band), when I had a better idea from my actual favourite singer... Thunder by Splashdown. I can totally picture her assassinating people to this and the lyrics are almost perfect.
