i mean regarding the 2nd part, of course romanticizing bad shit within fandom or fiction isn't without consequences, it affects what people really think is ok in direct or gradual ways. i mean minors for example literally dont have the context to be able to tell something's bad if someone else romanticizes it. considering that, i dont think everyone should be expected to just block for themselves, especially cause some stuff is everywhere so that's like saying just leave the fandom.
also i know lots of people arguing this stuff get out of line and say wild shit just so they can "win" & i dont mean to be like that. like i agree that supporting an abuse ship doesnt make someone an actual abuser.

again, romanticizing is a word we have to be careful with. theres a difference between 1) intentionally shipping an unhealthy pairing to show it’s unhealthy and because it’s unhealthy 2) unknowingly falling for the “romantic” facade 3) deliberately portraying the unhealthy behavior as love
if its 3 then yeah thats fucked up. if it’s 2, educate the person on how they could adjust their portrayal to be closer to 1. if it’s 1, leave the person the hell alone, they’re fully aware of the nature of the ship
and i agree that its important to keep minors online safe, which is why tags exist. as long as something is tagged appropriately it should be fine. especially with fandoms that appeal to minors, unsafe things should have a subfandom designated tag (like steven ga/laxy for the ns/fw steven uni/verse fandom). this prevents minors from just stumbling across stuff. but when it comes to just general unhealthy ships, it comes down to the people in that ship fandom to be make sure it’s being handled appropriately, its not really the place of outsiders to stomp all over them for just existing.
its important to realize that the internet ISNT for everyone. there are spaces on the internet for each group. you cant just walk into an opposing group and tell them to stop it because they’re in that group to be with people who think like them. it that case, its your job to prevent yourself from being exposed to the group. ESPECIALLY if their group is about fictional things. if it’s about real life stuff, then there are site rules to help prevent people from being i danger.
