It is a tragedy that we lost Heath Ledger after this movie, I really think having him back for RISES would have been a nice treat, even if he cameo for just a minute. Yes, I do think his performance was outstanding but so were the other players in the story, including Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent and the amazing Gary Oldman as Gordon. I always get goosebumps during the chase scene when the Batmobil gets destroyed. I like how the entire chase goes underground and the whole time there's no score only so that it kicks in as the Batpod gets introduce, its brilliant.

This is Raimi doing everything he wanted to do the first time around but wasn't allowed to and everything he could have done on the third film, if he would have been left alone. While I do think Andrew Garfield does a better Peter Parker, Tobey Maguire brought a deeply emotional level to the character, he rocked this role. Alfred Molina is fantastic as Doc Ock and Raimi bringing in his Evil Dead homage with the tentacles was the icing on the cake. And because Spider-Man is no longer in high school, makes this the best spidey film of all time.

I'm probably going to get hate messages for this one, but the fact of the matter is this, if Unbreakable is not a comic book film, then I don't want to know what is. This is M. Night Shyamalan at the top of his game, yes, the 6th sense was a great movie but this is on another level all together. The cinematography in this movie is uncanny and the score is top notch. If there was a hero in the real world, then this would be it. I also think that this is Bruce Willis' finest hour.

Indy director turns into an epic director in this origin tale of the Batman. Christopher Nolan brought a sophisticated vision of a comic book film while riding a fine line between reality and fantasy. An outstanding cast came together to bring the richness of the character surrounding the cape crusader, which was well played by Christian Bale, regardless of the constipated voice. The character relations in this movie are solid and well grounded Batman and Gordon become allies and Alfred embraces the role of the father figure. And like I mentioned before origin stories don't really focus on a villain but Nolan managed to work around that by turning the mentor into the villain.

Remember how I said X-MEN sometimes felt like the 90s cartoon, well X2: X-Men United is like that and more. When I judge a movie one of the things I take into consideration is that the movie must have three key scenes, a great opening, some cool action or revelation half way through and an epic finale. X2 has a dynamic opening scene, and even thought I've seen it multiple times, each time I'm captivated by it. Director Bryan Singer brought his "A" game once again and this time with more money and a larger cast, he also made Wolverine a more violent mutant, respectfully. I just love the idea of all mutants (good and bad) teaming up to go up against some government assholes.

This year's guilty pleasure is my sixth choice, I went to check out the film a second time after writing my review, and the verdict is in, I like this film more than Sam Raimi's original. New comer director Marc Webb actually surprised me with his ability to make this kids film into something a grown nerd like myself can enjoy. I think Andrew Garfield was fantastic as Peter Parker, both emotionally and physically. I just hope they stop doing spidey in high-school, get him to college or his mid 20s.
