Pa’ los gustos los colores. J Balvin came through with "Amarillo" #Bestof2020 #Top125 #101
J Balvin kept himself busy this year. Not only did he release his 4th album (unless you count the genius of “Oasis” with Bad Bunny), the excellent “Colores” which featured 10 songs named out of a different color. But he was featuring in all kinds of songs in all kinds of genres.
From Colores I liked this song and “Blanco,” and he had a song earlier in the countdown as a feature with Tainy on “Agua.” Then there was “Medusa” with Jhay Cortez and Anuel AA. “Roses [(Imanbek Remix) [Latino Gang]]” with SAINt JHN and Imanbek, “Un día (One Day)” with Tainy, Dua Lipa and Bad Bunny, “Relación (Remix)” by Sech, Daddy Yankee, ROSALÍA y Farruko and “All I Need” with MadeinTYO.

This song is like a dream in music form. “Toy” by Chromatics is next on the #Bestof2020 #Top125 #102
“It’s a song about trying to forget someone you’re still in love with even though they treat you like a object. I’m not your TOY.”
Tame Impala released another incredible album this year. So many trippy vibes, dance beats and killer hooks! "Is It True" #Bestof2020 #Top125 #103
I love how this song seems to have a sense of urgency while forcing you to dance and give yourself up to the rhythm. Kevin Parker is a genius in the studio but also amazing live as I was lucky enough to see for myself at the last real concert I got to attend just days before everything shut down without a clear end in sight.
More from “The Slow Rush,” later in the countdown.
From the moment the song starts with the drums banging and the jazzy guitar riff, you know this is going to be a great rock song. Listen to “Heat” by Palm Electro and tell me what you think! #Bestof2020 #Top125 #104
I love how the loungey/garage sound of the riffs blend with the anguish on the singer’s voice. I’ve never been good at making out lyrics. I hear a few words (whether I get the word right or not) and together with a melody my mind assumes what the song is about. I’m often wrong. Anyway, it seems like he’s talking about all the ways he’s being charmed by someone.
I love the way they go from a Weezery sound to a Red Hot Chili Peppers break (but with actual lyrics) yet not really sound like either band. I first became aware of them after my kid struck a friendship with members of the band while waiting in line at a Muse concert (remember concerts?). They even tapped her to do the art for their January release “Whiskey Business.”
