mayhaps it's ppl writing what they know at least when it comes to ur basic het tropes like arranged marriage, fake relationship, enemies to lovers (which i argue is more prevalent in het romance than friends to lovers) etc. i have nothing to say abt mpreg which is a minefield and is often connected to the Fic Genre That Shall Not Be Named but the simple stuff is just the stories/scenarios we're used to but in gay flavor which is fun when it's not Troubling
fake relationship is so much sexier under a gay context tho. the absolute best and sexiest context of fake relationship is when X has to pretend to be dating Y because Y is trying to adopt but no one wants to let a single person adopt a child so X and Y pretend to be together but the more they pretend the more X starts to realize they dont want to pretend and the more they fall in love with this family and the child itself T_T
also enemies to lovers i dont think is more prevalent with het and if so only because men being jackasses to women is like what the status quo is all abt
