..here is "Extrakt" my Cassette Tape Splicer, built from two different models of Japanese Splicers from the 1980s for 8mm. and 16mm. films: Diamond [Splicer A] and Fujica [Splicer B]. On the left is Splicer A and on the right is Splicer B, arranged on a platform and optimized to handle cassette tape quickly and safely. -At the beginning of the system I placed a deposit of 60-minute reel of tape and an individual brake to fix it. -The tape descends to Splicer A through the brake and crosses the platform to the right until it is under the blade of Splicer B, and it is held with 3 assistance clips to immobilize the end. -Then the Splicer A brake is activated and the entire segment is ready to be cut by both blades. -After lowering the two blades, splicer A and the right clamp of splicer B are released. -The ends are facing, the right clamp is activated again, adhesive tape is applied for the final joint, and you already have a loop of tape between your hands. So you can choose to put together your cassette or you can repeat this process and keep doing more physical loops. [Splicer A can be moved along the entire platform to obtain cuts of different lengths].
