Okay we've talked about this before, how we both thing Rafael would prefer the term partner to boyfriend, so can I ask for a scene with Rafael and Sonny bickering over terms for one another/their relationship? HI I LOVE YOU THANKS
The trickything about going out for drinks with Amanda is that somehow, without fail andlike fucking clock-work, one drink always turns into two. Which then ends upbeing several and by the end of thenight, Sonny, her typical victim, is well beyond drunk.
But she doesn’t allowherself to feel too guilty about that. She’s a southern woman through andthrough and he knew what he was walking into when she suggested drinks afterwork.
-
Amanda’s a little late, stepping into the bar but still it’snot difficult to find Sonny. He’s sitting alone at the bar, finishing thebottle of beer in his hand. He’s got the seat next to him saved with his coatdraped over it for her. He laughs when Peter, the bartender, swipes the emptybottle out of his hand for a new one.
Amanda can’t help but notice how good helooks. They both agreed to meet after work, taking an hour to go home andchange because it was rare, to just grab drinks as people instead of as cops. Â
(“We look like narcs,” Sonny had said once under his breathto her, leaning against the bar rail and angling his detective’s shield out ofthe way.)
He’s wearing a grey soft looking Henley and dark jeans. Thesleeves of his sweater are pushed up, as usual, and the watch he wears glints blindingly, despite the distance between them.
Amanda walks over to him and slides an armaround his shoulders in greeting. Sonny perks up and smiles. “About time, how’sJess?”
–
“Pete, you’rekillin’ me here!” Sonny says later, gesturing a little wildly to the televisionbehind the bar. It’s playing a rerun of a Rangers game that Sonny would rather forgetever happened, thank you very much. Pete laughs and switches the channel to some90’s sitcom. Amanda grins at him, drink to her lips and opens her mouth  –
“Amanda, ifyou care about me, you’ll keep whatever you’re thinking of saying to yourself.I’m still fragile – “
“I’m goingto the bathroom, moron,” Amanda says.
“Oh.”
“Oh.”
Sonnysnorts, “My bad.” Amanda rolls her eyes fondly at him. He’s a little flushedand she can’t tell if it’s from the drinks or embarrassment.
“Watch mydrink.” Amanda slides her drink towards Sonny as he places a coaster over thetop.
She’s gonefor about five minutes when she notices another man as taken her seat. She’s wellversed in body language to know this guy is hitting on Sonny. The guy’s smiling;easy and confident, like this pick up is in the bag and he knows it. Amanda’s alreadywalking back over when she hears the guy ask Sonny about his watch.
“Is that Hermes?”
Sonnyglances down to his wrist with a quizzical look, like he had forgotten he waswearing it. “Oh. Yeah, I think.”
The guy quirkshis eyebrow. “And you’re a cop?” The question of: how the hell can you affordthat? Hangs in the air. Sonny notices and waves it off.
“It was agift.”
Amandathinks this is the best time to slide herself in. “From his boyfriend,” sheadds, placing a hand on Sonny’s shoulder. Sonny rolls his eyes, his mouthtwisting in discomfort. He actually fidgets in his chair.
The guy blinks, looking between them with deepconfusion.
“Would youstop calling him my boyfriend? He’s not my boyfriend,” Sonny snaps, just as theguy’s face lights up with interest. Sonny turns to him, “he’s my partner. I’m thirty six. He’s not my boyfriend.”
The smirkfalls flat from the man’s face. After that, it doesn’t take much longer for himto disappear.
“Do you secretlyenjoy stringing men along when you could just have easily told them that you’rechained to a middle aged grumpy attorney?” Amanda asks.
Sonnyshrugs, lips curling a little. “Maybe.”
And then: “Ifeel like you’re forgetting sexy in that description.”
Amandagroans. “You have a type.”
“I have onetype. Shots?”
