Wait, what?
In the year that I’ve joined the CrossFit community, one of my favorite excuses that I’ve heard people give of why they’ve hesitated in joining CrossFit is this: they’re afraid of “getting big.” Which leads to the question…are you serious? Ok, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but hear me out.
When I hear people mention how they don’t want to “get all bulky and huge”, it makes me wonder if they really believe it’s THAT easy to become fit and toned on that level. Because it truly isn’t. WE know it isn’t. If you’re faced with friends or acquaintances who throw this out at you, remind them that NO ONE gets “huge” with this type of regular exercise. The athletes they’re really talking about have dedicated YEARS to become the competitors they are. We are all on different paths to fitness, and this misconception that we will eventually ALL become ripped and shredded is a nice hidden compliment, but really…no thanks.
