personally, i focus on creating the character and listing their looks, their passions, what they like or dislike, and a draft of their story and past, and stand, in case it was a jojo oc. then, i look for names related to that. (example: my Stardust Crusaders' OC's related to astrology, and as a consequence, the name i chose for her is Aelita, which means "the stars in the heavens above")
on the contrary, if i have a name in mind but lack of inspiration for the design of a character -which isn't your case i believe, but i'll just give the suggestion-, i make some research on the name's history and meaning, and create the story as a consequence to that. (example: the name i liked for my Diamond is Unbreakable OC was Adonis, and as a consequence, i designed him to be a model for Rohan, with a beautiful body and features, who cares about his beauty a lot.)

Another scenario: Bruno is rescued by a siren from a sinking ship during a mission, the mermaid turns out to have been a friend of Bruno's father since childhood (the latter would have kept the siren secret, obviously). She recognized him for his blood, but she has no idea where Paolo is, because he had spent years without going through that sea and asks her. Then Bruno has to tell him that he passed away. Later they become friends and she tells him things about his father when he was a child

I can see the siren being really sad about the loss of her friend, but getting protective of bruno because of it. Not in an unhealthy way, but more like a "your father was my friend but he died so now I'll take care of you" way. Of course, she can't get out of the water, but she's there whenever he needs her, for emotional support. Her heart breaks when she hears all the things he's been through. I can imagine soon she'd become almost like a mother figure to him. Someone to confide in as well as a tie to his late father

HE ABSOLUTELY WOULD. he tries to take some himself but he feels kind of self-conscious about looking ‘silly’ so in response to your ugly filters weird faces abbacchio sends you perfectly poised model-esque selfies like a perfect beauty guru. he gets kind of blushing and awkward when he realises you save them all even though he does it to yours and when he misses you he looks at them and smile
