PRAYERS & VIOLENCE — Behind the Scenes
Some songs aren’t written to be understood on the first listen.
They’re written to be felt.
Prayers & Violence was born from grief — not the kind you fight, but the kind you learn to walk with. The quiet weight. The unanswered conversations. The moments where faith and anger sit in the same room. This record is my way of honoring the passing of my mother, my grandmother, and my wife — three women whose love shaped my life, my voice, and my spirit.
Hip hop has always been my language for processing pain. On this track, that energy shows up raw and unfiltered. Prayer on one side. Violence on the other. Not literal violence — but the internal war that happens when you’re trying to stay grounded while your heart is breaking. Some days you kneel. Some days you clench your fists. Both are real. Both are human.
The soundscape carries that tension. Signature West Coast drums, heavy and intentional, paired with a cinematic chorus that feels like standing still while life keeps moving around you. The production doesn’t rush the emotion — it lets it breathe. It lets it hurt. It lets it heal.
Visually, we wanted contrast. Stillness and motion. Light and shadow. Solitude and presence. Filmed throughout New York City, the visuals reflect what grief actually feels like — walking familiar streets while everything inside you has changed. No dramatics. No performance. Just movement, reflection, and space.
This isn’t a song about overcoming grief.
It’s about coexisting with it.
Letting it walk beside you instead of trying to outrun it.
These behind-the-scenes moments capture the truth of that process — quiet pauses, deep breaths, and the discipline of showing up even when your heart is heavy.
If you’ve ever loved deeply…
If you’ve ever lost and kept moving anyway…
This one’s for you.
