Last night I shared my teaser trailer for #CancerALoveStory @womeninfilmla @newfilmmakersLa @netflix (to be clear, I was not pitching Netflix - but I hope I get to!) It was a great opportunity to share the work with a community of filmmakers in L.A. My friend Emily Simon whom I have known since 5th grade (she was in 6th, and I vividly remember her talking about poetry with Mrs Gardner and thinking she was cool and she still is) came as my Spiritual Bodyguard/ Emotional Support Animal. And my old friend Jonathan Ames came. I wa so enamored of Jonathan and his monologues and writing in the 90’s- I still am. I’ve always wanted to be him. It seemed fitting that Jonathan and I were together in LA when in New York there a celebration of our mutual friend #tommurrin in New York. And Vera! She accompanied me on this whole trip to LA. “So What was it like seeing yourself in the big screen?” “I didn’t know I was going to be in it so much!” “Well,...” I started to get worried. “I mean I k ew I was going to be in it but just not so much!” What a trouper. What a traveler. And I have to say it was just SO exciting to drive onto a lot, with the parking pass and everything. I am seeking financing for this film so if you know anyone serious please let me know. My my 2 and a half minutes got two big laughs and some sniffles. I could not have done it without my fabulous friend and producer @willsweeney and the hard work and dedication of development producer and editor @anne.coburn It was just delightful. I’m ready. #femalefilmmakerfriday (on wed) #feministperformanceart #love
