This weekend 7 years ago we bought our home in Vegas. I rode my Road Glide here from Plymouth, New Hampshire during the tornados 🌪 we had in April 2011, through the Midwest, same week Joplin got flattened. I did not run into any of the tornados, I was either ahead, or behind them through the trip. I did encounter some serious water on the ride but dried out eventually. I packed my bike up with the gear I needed to make the trip (maybe overpacked), although I stayed mostly in motels due to the weather. The rack says maximum weight 40 pounds but I think I exceeded that weight a little bit. My Dad taught me the art of the bungee cord many years ago, and it has definitely come in handy throughout my many journeys across the US, Canada, and Mexico. I don’t think I will attach so much crap to my bike next time, but I think I may make the trip back this summer. I am thinking of hitting Sturgis, SD, then back to Boston. If you are interested in making the trek from Vegas to Sturgis this year let me know, it is definitely a good ride to make.
