livvy kneels at the opening of a little drainage grate, gently ushering a lizard into her palm. there’s another resting on her lap and another that’s seemed to have snuggled into her curls just behind her ear. it’s a nice day, if not slightly overcast, and the little creatures seem to be basking in the warmth she provides. still, her head snaps up as the corinthian speaks, a smile lifting the corners of her mouth. “ coming! ” she calls in a chirp. “ sorry, ” she says to the little lizard in her palm as she sets it back down in the dirt. “ sorry, “ she says to the one on her lap “sorry, “ she says to the one she carefully pulls out of her hair. “ see you guys later, ”

she half runs and half skips up to the car, settles in the passenger seat with a bright smile. “ can i get sprinkles on mine? ”

Character Development Questions

Klaus has a very much love/hate relationship with silence, actually. It's something he craves and dreads all at once because silence always brings with it the threat of whispering voices from the Great Beyond (or, even worse, the voice in his own head). Silence has an inherent vulnerability to it, which is why Klaus is so desperate to avoid it most of the time. He's found that life is a lot easier if you just keep running. He spends his days out in the streets with the traffic and the crowds, spends his nights at clubs and bars where it's so easy to let himself drift between distractions. The silence at the end of the night or the start of the morning is always the worst part because if he stops moving for long enough, all those pesky feelings start creeping back in.
