When I read âThe Strangerâ in high school (I covered some of this in an earlier post about that particular book) I fell in love with Camus and his writing style. Thereâs something familiar and comforting about it. Maybe thatâs weird but thatâs what I love about literature, thereâs something for everyone and not everyone does it the same.
Iâm excited to get into these at some point but for now they collect dust and sit on my bookshelf.

âRoot: The RPGâ
A fantasy adventure tabletop role playing game. Set in a woodland world occupied by anthropomorphic animals. No humans, just critters. Seems really cute and really fun to be honest. A much more relaxed feeling game than D&D, which can be rather intimidating. Will have to see how the game plays out when I get a group together!!

âthe Strangerâ by Albert Camus
This was a book club read back when I was in high school. Again this was one of my first reads by Camus and it opened the doorway for me.
Itâs not so much the story that draws me to this book, itâs Camus himself and his almost candid writing style. You can feel how each sentence is dripping with existential dread. You can sense how dissociated the character feels from reality. Everything sorta feels like itâs a mile away.
The story is sort of mundane but Camus uses that to examine how ridiculous and frivolous the human experience can be. I like that the book can seem almost boring at time, really making you think about how and why we do things, especially during a time of loss.
Ok letâs start here I guess? More of a novelty procurement than anything else.

I donât subscribe to western religion or Christianity. Iâve found bits and pieces of things that make sense to me from various classes of religious thought and yet none as a whole make sense to me. So why not dive into some hermetic texts too?

Iâve been looking for this one for a while. I misplaced it and couldnât find it to save my life until I started tidying up an untouched corner of the house.
âThe Senate Intelligence Committee Report on Torture: Committee Study of the Central Intelligence Agencyâs Detention and Interrogation Programâ by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
I picked this one up along with âthe Mueller Reportâ from the Spy Museum in Washington DC a couple years back.
Rather horrific read, again like the Mueller Report a significant portion of it is redacted. Names, places, time frames, things of that nature. Still, the things that WERE published changed the course of history.
A very specific read for a very specific reader. If youâre into that kind of literature this is a fascinating read.
I actually started reading this as soon as I got home. So itâs being added to my âcurrently readingâ list
âMy Best Friendâs Exorcismâ by Grady Hendrix
An 80s themed horror comedy?? Absolutely. Also the cover, the cover makes the whole book for me I really feel like Iâm about to experience a true classic horror novel. I really hope this lives up to the hype because it will easily be one of my all time favorite books.

âField Guide to Hendrickâs: Vol. Twoâ
I love Hendrickâs gin and I have every bottle so far from their cabinet of curiosities. This was on the shelf of a used bookstore for like $2 so of course I had to!!
Various recipes for cocktails, a little bit of history on Hendrickâs, and some other interesting information. Honestly a darn good deal.
