Minority Records has just released the exotic, contemporary instrumental sounds of FLOEX Samorost 3 Soundtrack by modern Prague composer Tomáš Dvořák on November 1st, 2016. The LP comes with 2 heavyweight, 180 gram records pressed by Pallas and includes a set of six stunning square inlays with amazing illustrations by artist Adolf Lachman. Also included with the release is  a digital download code for those who would like to download the album in FLAC format.

Samorost 3 is the third record by Czech composer Tomáš Dvořák  I have reviewed in my blog. In the past, I have covered his amazing ambient, instrumental records Zorya and his award-winning Machinarium ST. I would invite you to go back and read those earlier reviews as well. Indie composer / musician Tomáš Dvořák who records under the moniker of “Floex” has teamed-up with Amanita Design, a Czech independent video game developing company founded in 2003 and headquartered in Brno, Czech Republic.

The music on the Samorost 3 Soundtrack is really novel and distinctive. Dvořák takes a neoclassical music approach to composing the many of sounds on this downtempo-ambient-experimental record. That said, Dvořák also has a healthy respect for modern electronic music, having been a club Disc Jockey for years. It is the merging of these two sound elements that can help to describe the music on this Soundtrack album as Electro - Acoustic.  It is interesting to note that his instrument of choice the clarinet is featured predominately running through the entire melodic Samorost 3 Soundtrack score. The clarinet is layered over complex, pre-recorded electronic music loops and sequences quite nicely. He was assisted in the recording of this art music record by Tomas Jamik’s cello, viola de Gamba and ehra; vocals by Barbora Kartochvilova (duo DVA) and Milos Dvorak on the song- “Little Devils’ Tune”. Matous Godik was responsible for the final mastering of the sounds. One fine effort of passionate and cerebral music with beautiful quality album artwork brought to vinyl.
