Oooh, possibly because it’s locked from editing, sorry about that -- if you save a copy for yourself, they should pop up there when you click in a cell. The original is locked so that people don’t use it and make it unusuable for others :D
Level Up!
Yesterday I Advanced to Level 26 of this Game they call Life, so I’m taking the time to once more reflect on the past year.
Quests: I never really made a big announcement about this, but I as of last week, I started a new job within my Workplace. Part of the reason fro lack of announcement was how long the delay was in the various departments within work agreeing when I would be moving to the new role*.
So far, it seems to be going well, despite having an actual commute, in that I seem to get on with my colleagues better than my previous office, and I’m enjoying the work I’ve been given so far.
I’m still dealing with the car incident, but hopefully it should be repaired and back to me within the month.
Skills: I’ve let my crochet-ing and other such activities fall to the backburner somewhat, which I need to rectify, and aim to be doig so shortly. Writing skill is getting there, and I’m getting more confident in the Confidence and Fashion skills.
L(A)RPS: Continuing to Ref Empire, and thoroughly enjoying that. I have switched from primarily Skirmish Ref to primarily Field Ref, which I much prefer, and indeed spent most of the last event in GOD, dealing with queries, which was very eye-opening. Odyssey came to a riveting end, and I still cannot believe there will not be any more of that wonderful system, that will continue to supply us with stories and excellent memories for years to come.
I’ve started attending some MegaGames (so far only multiple iterations of Watch The Skies, but all have been much fun), and attended my first Pioneers event, and looking forward to going to the next one. I’ve got a fair few larps coming up this year, primarily crewing, as crewing the wonderful Falling Down got me somewhat hooked. However, I am thoroughly looking forward to the next instalment of REGENESIS, so much so because we have a player event coming up in a couple of weeks. I’m also contemplating the ridiculousness that is likely to be Skulls and Crossbones LARP, though i’m waiting to see how ridiculously expensive it is going to be.
I also foolishly volunteered to GM the current Oxford Society game, which I think is going well, but I’m definitely going to take a break after this one from doing so.
Friends: I’ve met many wonderful new people in the past year, had romance sub-plots cause chaos for a while before settling down. I once again spent New Years Eve with the Various Light Entertainers, and a brilliant time was had, next year can’t come soon enough. I do need to get in the habit of seeing people more outside of LARP and similar activities though. Speaking of which.
Social: I’ve managed to move out of my previous housing arrangement, which had next to no hosting space, into a house share with some excellent friends, that does have hosting space (at least when we tidy), that I am forever grateful for. Outside of society stuff, I’ve got my birthday party coming this weekend, which I’m much looking forward too, especially getting to see many excellent people outside of fields or IC environments. I’m in a semi-regular Tabletop game, and a group of us are currently going through a Seafall Campaign too, which I am really enjoying.
I have intentions to (once I’m no longer GMing a Society Game) start up a semi-regular tabletop game myself, possibly various one-shots, possibly an attempt at a campaign. I’d also like to organise more regular board game or computer game evenings.
Looking Forward: For me, personally, I’m hopeful. I feel like I’m in a good situation. I have excellent people in my life, I’ve got a job which I think I’m going to... if not enjoy, then at least appreciate, and I have plans (at least preliminary) for attempting to see people more often.
For the Rest of the World... I’m going to reserve judgement until 2017 has had some time to get it’s legs working. All I’ll say is that I hope it goes better than 2016 did Globally (from my pov).
Here’s to 2017, may you make the world a better place. Here’s also to those whose memories will continue to make the world a better place, despite no longer being in it. Sharing my Birthday with the Deathday of David Bowie is going to be one of my reminders to always be Excellent and never anyone other than who I want to be.
*To put it into some perspective, I had the job interview for this role the Tuesday after the final Odyssey Event (yes, that’s the day after I got home from a weekend with very little sleep), and I had another job interview later that week (or possibly the week after). I got a verbal offer at the end of August, and was not given my official start date until a week before I started my Xmas holidays.

BEHOLD, FOR I HAVE MADE A THING :D
Created after seeing the hat that can be found here , which sadly, does not have a pattern (afaict)
So I figured it couldn't be that hard, and began to make my own, teaching myself (at least the basics of) needlefelting in the process. However, it is finally finished, and I am extremely happy with the final result :)
For reference, the eye colours of the stalk eyes are (clockwise from bottom left) Red, Green, Brown, Yellow, & Purple. The Centre eye is a Cyan-Blue colour
Level Up!
Another year, Another Level. Once again, I find myself taking the time to reflect back on the past year of this game they call Life.
Quests: Well, I've stopped being a Trainee at work, been given more responsibility, and it still feels odd and scary. However, I'm definitely alright with quest rewards of pay rises and a Company Car, so I’m calling it positive. I’m continuing to interact with the Family side-quest, and it does not seem to be going catastrophically.
Skill Points: My Crochet skill has Increased aplenty, possibly surpassing even my Knitting skill level, and I’ve even taken a number of commissions. Cofidence skill still needs some work, but my writing skill definitely saw a marked increase due to the Society Games.
LARPs: Continued to ref Empire, and the activities of the players continue to amuse me. Ornithocracy came to a close, and my second character in the system had a very fitting end to their character arc. Odyssey once again continues to be excellent, I am still somehow in charge of a thing, though people seem to be taking Mkhai less seriously, can’t think why. I’ve also started crewing Falling Down, which I have enjoyed, and have also crewed a Pioneers player event, convincing me to play the main system.
Friends: A romance sub-plot has ended, others seem to have the potential to start. Due to joining, the Oxford Light Entertainment Society, I have met even more wonderful/Terrible™ people, even spending a few days around New Years Eve with some of them. L(A)RP is still allowing me to keep in touch with those reprobates I call my friends, though possibly not as much as I would like.
Social: Still getting used to living in Oxford, and the fact that doing activities with various student societies means my Term times are hella busy, whilst the holidays are fairly quiet, at least in terms of local social events, which I find somewhat difficult to cope with, especially with no way to host some of my own.
Looking Forward: Futurewise, I am considering the possibility of moving out of my current abode this year, to somewhere hopefully with more space, especially for hosting stuff, or seeing if there are any friends I could move in with.
So here’s to 2016 (and the first 10 days of 2017), may it be Excellent. However, I ask that it discontinue this trend of allowing most excellent people such as Leonard Nimoy, Terry Pratchett GNU, Christopher Lee, or indeed, David Bowie, at least for a while.
