The Silence of Todgha Gorge 🇲🇦🏍️🌴

When I learned about Todgha Gorge and the adjacent Dades Gorge, I told myself: I don’t want to just see the popular section, I want to ride ALL OF IT.

While the Southern section of Todgha Gorge is the most beautiful in my opinion, it is also full of cars, transport vans, tourists and vendors. Not my scene, I took some photos and moved on. But if you ride just 5 minutes beyond the Southern section, you are rewarded with the most fiery orange rocks with no one around.

It’s just silence. Just your breath and the wind.

Hello from Todgha Gorge in Tinghir! 🇲🇦🏍️

Todgha Gorge is a series of canyons made of limestone in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains. The height of the canyon walls can vary, but in some places can be up to 400 meters/ 1,312 ft tall. The last 600 meters/ 1,969 ft of the gorge that you see here is where the canyon narrows to a flat stony track and is very pedestrian friendly.

Seeing Todgha Gorge is jaw dropping. The slot canyons in Arizona get a lot of attention, but this is Antelope Canyon’s big sister. These canyons are HUGE and when the sun hits the vibrant orange rocks just right, they are so visually stimulating they make your pupils dilate 👁️👁️

How do you get here? I recommend coming up from the South on the N10, going through Tinghir and seeing this portion of the gorge if you have limited time. This is where the wow factor of the gorge is.
