The Monday after the biggest protests in American history, during Pride month, and after the cast of Traitors season four was announced seems a great day to post another of my faves of the incredible Alan Cumming. I had the privilege of photographing Jenn Rolnick Borchetta for BU's The Record and it's out now. Jenn is deputy project director in the ACLU Criminal Law Reform Project and develops and leads legal strategies to challenge police abuse and strengthen individual rights and liberties against police authority. She was the lead attorney in the lawsuit against the City of New York that ended Stop & Frisk. Huge thanks to Jenn for her patriotic service and for being so great to work with. Outtakes to come!

The gallery of images picked by the jury for American Photography 41 has been released. Honored my portrait of two-time Audie winning voice actor Gail Shalan was chosen for it. Big thanks to American Photography and the judges for the recognition, Gail for being great to work with, Janice Checchio for the cool assignment for BU, and Johnny Tang for the assist. May the 4th be with you! Happy Star Wars Day! I love photographing creative colorful communities (and love alliteration) and ComicCon is an amazing event with such wonderful people. Some of my fave Star Wars cosplays from my first time shooting there back before covid.

Big congrats to Audra McDonald and Danny Burstein for their Tony nominations for Gypsy! I've been privileged to photograph both of these amazingly talented and wonderful people. This is Audra's 11th nomination, now the most in history. She already had the most Tony wins in history with six. And this is Danny's 8th nom! He won for Moulin Rouge.

I started April photographing the amazing Alan Cumming, so let's end the month with more of my fave images. A dream shoot working with somebody so collaborative and creative, and styled and produced by the fantastic Cynthia Altoriso. Huge thanks to both of them again. Yesterday I posted the cover story I photographed of composer Missy Mazzoli. Today it's some of my fave outtakes. Missy is one of only two women to have ever been commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera and her opera Lincoln in the Bardo debuts there next spring. She will also have a new piece in 2027 at the New York Philharmonic.

Huge congrats to amazing artist Rashid Johnson whose exhibition Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers opens today at the Guggenheim Museum and runs from April 18-Jan. 18, 2026. I had the privilege of photographing him in his studio right before covid. Can't wait to check it out.

Let's end the week with one of my fave outtakes of two-time Audie winning voice actor Gail Shalan, photographed for Boston University CFA magazine. The brief on this assignment was something very colorful and studio-looking. Other than that, I could play. I had a general idea of what we were going to try and asked Gail when we arrived at her co-working space what were her favorite colors. She said primary so we went very primary. The split colored face is a reference to two-faced theater masks, and the colors I hoped would evoke a bit of fauvism of which I'm a big fan.

Last week I photographed Craig Solomon, Vice Chairman & Chief Investment Officer at Affinius Capital, for a cover feature for Commercial Observer and it's out now in print and online. Love how it turned out. Outtakes to come!

Happy birthday to novelist Jay McInerney turning 70 today. When I photographed him in his Greenwich Village penthouse he answered the door barefoot when I arrived. And when we were set to start shooting he asked if he should put on shoes. No, I said quickly. I love when portraits show something unexpected and he's a barefoot guy and I wanted to show that.
