A Winter Sport Book
Now that the Fall Quarter has ended for UChicago Maroons, it’s time to focus on more leisurely activities. Our legal department informs me the advice given here is not to be taken literally. And please beware of fiendish thingys when curling.

It snowed pretty heavily last night and the whole city is covered in a white blanket. It was very beautiful until it all turned to slush... now it’s kinda gross.
I can never decide whether I love snow or hate snow. It’s such a pretty sight, it executes this breathtaking beauty when it covers everything in it’s way, right down to the most fragile branch on a tree. When I was taking pictures I felt an odd sense of peace in the cold solitude. Yet experiencing it on an everyday basis is a whole different matter, especially when the soft powder isn’t soft anymore, add to it rainwater and mud and it’s just unpleasant to have around.
I guess it’s one of those things that is only nice from a distance or temporarily. Prolonged stay is a nuisance and makes life pretty hard. I’m still down to go tobogganing down citadel though.
I love snow for the same reason I love Christmas: It brings people together while time stands still. Cozy couples lazily meandered the streets and children trudged sleds and chased snowballs. No one seemed to be in a rush to experience anything other than the glory of the day, with each other, whenever and however it happened.
