R.I.P. to my beloved boy Jon Snow. He doesn't exist in the Dreams universe does he?
This is spoiler territory
Jon Snow exists! You need to know backstory for this.
Basically Matella and Lysandaer die when Aegon tries to hatch more eggs in Summerhall, after Daeron, Alysanne, and Wyle all die and cannot stop him (they lived full, great lives, and die peacefully). Rhae's in Dorne, married, Daella is on Tarth, also married, and neither one are there to stop it from happening. Dunk tried but⦠nope.
His son, Jaehaerys II and his son Aerys, were in King's Landing at the time because Egg was still pissed about them marrying Rhaella to Aerys without his permission, and at such a young age, and making her have a baby that young too. Matelle and Lysandaer left to stop the madness because Matarys was visiting his aunt & uncle Berona and Maegor.
So right off the bat Aegon does this spooky voodoo fire magic shit at Summerhall trying to surprise everyone with more dragons, not trusting in the process, and the dreams sorta just took over. Aemon was chilling too at Dragonstone, running it while Matarys was visiting. Maella is on her boat with her Baratheon wife (aka Lyonel's baby girl).
Matella and Lysandaer die getting their son out of there, as they're not fireproof (Daeron's was a one-shot thing, ok, like Dany in the books, ONE SHOT THING NO MAGIC FIREPROOFING), and while he is alive, Matarys is hurt. Dawn the Dragon lives too.
Summerhall is gone. Daeron's dream did come true, just not how it was expected. Aegon was not king but still was the cause.
Berona and Maegor go North with Matarys because at this point they absolutely do not want anything to do with the Iron Throne, Matarys is hurt and presumed too injured to rule (lies spread by Jaehaerys), and the Starks live up to the promise Beron gave Alysanne in chapter 10 of providing a safe space for her children. They get Moat Cailin to fix up and live. So now you got at least 2 DaeronAlylings up in the North, with legitmate claims. Maella and her wife go "fuck this shit you murdered my brother, kinslayer's offspring" and leave KL. The Royal Fleet? Gone, because they followed her after Wyle died.
Basically you end up with Jaehaerys II, then his son the Mad King Aerys (who is I bc the OG never was king), and Queen Rhaella, and their son, Rhaegar. As the only Targaryen male willing to take the throne, he does.
Now years later, canon stuff happens. I will preface this by saying Rhaegar is absolutely wrong in what he did, Lyanna was CHILD 14 at the time when they first met, then 15 when kidnapped, and let me tell you 15 year olds are CHILDREN. Rhaegar was a grown ass man with a wife and two children.
Rhaegar kidnaps Lyanna. He's thinking he's Daeron come again (the songs paint a very idealized story and he thinks he's going to have also a Northern wife for his second wife, like Alysanne was, look, they both are wild women, they are dark haired, grey eyed Starks), Lysanna is Alysanne, and he got ahold of fragments of Daeron's journals to feed his delusions. Lyanna does not want to go when she realizes that "getting out of marrying Robert" means being kidnapped.
AGAIN, SHE WAS NOT WILLING.
Robert was bad enough, but at least he was not already married with a wife and children. Rhaegar being Rhaegar forces her to say vows in front of a heart tree, and⦠yeah, it happens.
But that's all it takes, and now Lyanna is locked in a Tower. Pregnant. With Jon Snow.
At that point the canon stuff happens and Jon Snow is born, Eddard thinks "oh shit I gotta hide him better hide him in my castle" and then realizes later down the line when Jon is old enough "uh⦠maybe I should foster him with the Tarstarks" not knowing their plans. Jon Snow still wants to join Night's Watch so that happens.
Then GoT happens. Poor Ned.
