Body Details: Alinora

5’10 (though i’ve been thinking of changing it to 6’0)

Black hair, w/ some curl/wave. Usually kept braided, & pinned to the crown of her head, but when it’s loose/not pinned, it falls below her shoulder blades/above the small of her back.

Green eyes, with a golden ring around the pupil.

Freckles on her cheek bones, nose bridge, & shoulders.

Facial scar—3 diagonal slash marks, from right temple to left jaw. (I’m pretty sure? The slash marks are def there but I do get confused on what direction they would realistically be lol) It missed her eye but did catch the corner of her mouth.

Large, sharp pointy ears. Will occ remind people “they aren’t this large just for show” when she overhears things they think she wasn’t close enough for.

Curvier body type, muscles hidden by a layer of fat

No tattoos atm, or birth marks.

The only other scar I’ve mapped out is one on her back—also 3 diagonal marks, starting at her shoulder and ending by her ribs. (Though I’ve changed a bit of her backstory & that MAY not be relevant anymore??)

That said she definitely has other scars. Quite a few of ‘em.

Hands are calloused from wielding blades

Feet… I think she has a high arch? Maybe not so high she’s always on tip toes, but, it’s definitely defined

Body Details: Talitha

5’7. May adjust to 5’8. But, I want her to be an inch taller than Aishlynn (bc she’d never let her live it down) & not quite at eye level with Nora

Blue-grey eyes, leaning more on the grey

Nose is a little crooked from being broken a handful of times

Scar going through one of her brows, bc I love the missing strip of hair look :P She probably got it from a fight

I also want her to have a scar on one side of her mouth? & maybe on her chin. The chin one would def be a childhood scar

Both are fairly small & pretty faded so they’re not immediately obvious

No/few face freckles, but several on her body. Also some moles/beauty marks on her face

Not really a body feature exactly but! Rarely seen w/o a pair of pearl earrings, as they’re enchanted to work as hearing aids. She can maintain the spell w/o them but it uses up a bit of focus. W/o these she doesn’t hear v well

Muscular. She’s very proud of her biceps. And also her stomach. She’s broad shouldered

Has a few scars in various places on her body from fights & mishaps

Calloused hands. Fingers aren’t long but still very dexterous. She’s an old hand at knots

Alinora — Compliments usually make her roll her eyes. She doesn’t know what to do with sincerity. (Praise her loyalty and her skill. Her dedication & her drive. And maybe tell her she’s pretty, too.)

Elaena — Tell her she’s terrifying, eerie, odd, macabre. Tell her it makes you jump when she suddenly appears from the shadows. Tell her she’s funny, interesting, intelligent.

Lyr — Tell him he’s funny, that his stories are engaging, that it’s easy to have a good time with him. Compliment his singing or the way he plays the lute. Tell him he’s a good fighter, that he gave you a challenge, and you’d like to fight him again.

Ava — Compliment her kindness, her compassion, the advice she gives. Thank her for a listening ear. Tell her that her flowers are beautiful, and that you like her hair. Compliment her clothes, her skill with the bow, her singing voice, her skill with a lyre, the neat, looping lines of her handwriting.

Talitha — Talitha is both the easiest & hardest to compliment, because. Of everyone on this list she takes compliments the easiest… provided they’re not coming from people she cares for, or don’t hit on something sincere. That said, compliment her brain, her mind, her magic. Compliment her ship, her sense of fashion, her taste in books. The way she plays the violin. You could also compliment her cooking. She’ll know you’re lying, but she’ll appreciate the gesture ;)

Aishlynn — Aish is probably the easiest person to answer, honestly. Tell her she’s a good person. Tell her she’s kind, tell her you like her. She doesn’t want much except to be liked, & to be told she’s doing a good job. For bonus points you could compliment her needlework; her poetry; her skill on the harp; or her sense of fashion.

Asa — Any kind of compliment makes him shy and awkward, but he appreciates compliments to his work ethic, dedication, the skills he’s worked hard to develop. Tell him his bedside manner is good, that his presence is comforting.

she loves the smell of the ocean—of old books—of hot cocoa—of freshly ground coffee, even if she doesn’t drink it herself.

talitha usually just sleeps in her underwear. maybe a bra + shorts? on colder nights she puts on a big shirt and piles on the blankets.

talinora!!!!! they’re adorable & also one day going to be canon :o

cute headcanon: talitha makes up all kinds of ridiculous nicknames for alinora, and calls her every single one of them in public, all the time. she also very dramatically drapes herself over alinora; clings to her; etc. (all with permission of course.) however! the second, the second that alinora calls her nicknames (usually ‘darling’) or holds her hand or kisses her cheek, talitha turns into a blushing, stuttering mess. ((her bff, lyr, thinks it’s hilarious.))

so many!!! but two main ones—talitha & lyr, bffs since childhood, tell each other everything, were separated for 10 years but still pick up right where they left off. they’re good.

but also! talitha & aishlynn, who bicker and jab at each other enough to make you think they hate each other. however, they trust each other implicitly, would follow the other to hell and back, and can communicate with just a glance.

cute hc: talitha & lyr play a game called the “3AM” game, though it can be played at any time. they both lay down, staring at the ceiling, not facing each other, & tell the other their worries, regrets, bad events. neither comments until the end, when they finally curl up together and hold each other till they fall asleep.

aishlynn and talitha bicker constantly, but talitha’s one goal in their friendship is to make aishlynn laugh / smile. likewise, aishlynn does her best to make sure to keep talitha in the loop, bc she knows sometimes tali will accidentally tune out / not listen / be unable to process sound. (or her enchantment isn’t working, etc.)

Alinora Mynerva - Personal Timeline

(2) Alinora is named as the next monarch.

(4) Alinora’s older sister, Aishlynn, is claimed as a Slaeyr, and leaves Mynera.

(5) Alinora is discovered to have no magic. People get to work on implementations that will ensure she’s able to get around Mynera on her own when she gets older.

(6) Alinora meets her future best friends, Rivana and Liera.

(7) Alinora begins self-defense lessons with Oreyn.

(10) Alinora gets to pick out her da’lia—a deerlike mount. Getting to choose one is a coming of age custom in Mynera. On Alinora’s visit to the ranch, she picks out the sole black-furred da’lia in Mynera. She insists on having it even after being told it could be an omen. She names her Ezzi.

(13) Alinora confirms the identity of her father as her mother’s spymaster, Oreyn. She also finds out about his history as a Black Swans assassin. He gives her his Swans figurine and tells her that, during her pilgrimage, she could use it to find aid if she was ever in trouble.

(14) Alinora shares her first kiss with Rivana.

(15) Alinora begins privately courting Liera, despite knowing both of them are already betrothed.

(17) It’s revealed that Liera and Alinora are betrothed to each other.

(18) Two weeks before her eighteenth birthday, Alinora loses her home, family, etc. and is forced to flee before she’s captured and brought before Kai’os. Shortly after her eighteenth birthday, she reaches Verdani, where she shows Ellis the Swans’ figurine and convinces him to take her on as an apprentice.

(20) Alinora earns Ellis’s trust and is finally taken to Mharani, an underground city populated entirely by Swans assassins and their agents. She meets Ellis’s friend Rolfe (who was also a friend of her fathers) and also meets his students. His students are initially suspicious of her, but eventually adopt her as one of their own—despite her attempts to distance herself from them.

(22) Alinora graduates from her training and becomes a full-fledged member of the Swans… after taking her first contract.

(24) Alinora foils an attempt to assassinate the grandmaster. He begins taking an interest in her.

(25) The grandmaster makes her his eyes and ears around the base. His personal spy, meant to watch out for traitors to the Swans and assassination attempts against him.

(27) Alinora learns that she was never meant to exist, and that because of that, she must defeat Fate. This begins The Martyr Queen, which ends shortly after she turns 28.

Aishlynn Mynerva - Personal Timeline

(6) Aishlynn is taken to officially meet her peers. She doesn’t fit in well with the children her age, however. Most of the kids only let her play with them because she’s the queen’s daughter. Aishlynn spends most of her time with her father.

(7) Aishlynn’s father begins training her in self-defense.

(10) Aishlynn’s father goes on a mission. He doesn’t come home, and is presumed dead. One of his generals takes over her lessons. Aishlynn is further ostracized from her peers when her reaction to her father’s death isn’t what people think it should be. (She doesn’t cry.)

(12) Aishlynn’s sister is born. Aishlynn is distraught, because it means her mother is moved on. A rift grows between them.

(16) Aishlynn is claimed as a Slaeyr and leaves Mynera. She is taken to Kai’os’s clan. She presents as a spirit elemental Slaeyr.

(17) Aishlynn has been unofficially adopted by Kai’os, but also by Kaltain. She really feels like she belongs somewhere, for the first time since her father died.

(18) Kai’os confides in her about his plans for the world. She is wary at first, but his charisma and fervent belief eventually sway her.

(22) Aishlynn kills someone for the first time, and absorbs their aura under Kai’os’s instruction. It feels horrible, but Kai’os assures her it’s all for a worthy cause.

(24) Kai’os decides it’s time to infiltrate his sister’s clan, as she is the leader of the Slaeyr. He chooses Aishlynn for the job, as she is among the most trustworthy members. Aishlynn goes, posing as the last survivor of a clan that Kai’os’s tribe had attacked days before. Lys’tria welcomes her into the tribe, and she meets Lyr, Ava, and eventually, Talitha.

(27) Over the three years that she’s lived in the tribe, Aishlynn develops a close bond with Lys’tria. She loves her dearly, and can longer remain silent about Kai’os’s plans. She reveals everything. Lys’tria reveals that she had already been suspicious. Aishlynn becomes a double agent for her, and they begin planning.

(28) Aishlynn gets the word from Kai’os to enact the plan. She reports to Lys, who realizes that they have run out of time. She comes up with a plan anyway. (No one likes the plan.)

(29) Against Aishlynn’s wishes, Lys sacrifices herself to stave off Kai’os. Aishlynn returns home, hoping to save her mother and sister… and finds that Mynera has already fallen. She decides to help form the resistance.

(31) Aishlynn goes out on a mission for the resistance, and in the process, is fatally wounded. Asa manages to pull her back from the brink with his healing abilities, but her hair is turned forever white in the process. She convinces him to join the resistance.

(32) Aishlynn is reunited with Talitha and (reluctantly) convinces her to join the resistance as well.

(38) Elaena visits the resistance. She tells them that Lyr and Ava (though she doesn’t mention them by name) are close to finding a way to defeat Kai’os. She also mentions a secret weapon of the gods…

(39) Aishlynn gets the word from Elaena for her and Talitha to set out. When they reach port, they reunite with Lyr and Ava… but Aishlynn is also reunited with her sister, Alinora Mynerva. And so begins Aishlynn’s part in The Martyr Queen.

elaena likes the smell of [redacted]’s perfume—honey & vanilla

she likes the smell of old books bc it reminds her of her dad

For the characters of the Martyr Queen, the motivations driving each character are quite similar:

Alinora is motivated by revenge and atonement. Both things are driven by grief, guilt, and love.

Elaena is motivated by duty, which is driven by a sense of justice. There is someone doing bad things, and they need to be stopped. (Also a sense of--possession? In a way. This is her world, these are the souls she shepherds; you can’t take them / end them / hurt them.)

Lyr is motivated by revenge and responsibility. The former driven by guilt and grief; the latter because of family. Sort of. Kai’os is uncle. He’s also one of Lyr’s people--a people still new and already distrusted. He needs to have a hand in putting things right.

Ava is motivated by responsibility. This is driven by justice, but also because of the personal connection that she and Lyr share to Kai’os. She’s also motivated / driven by the need to fix what went wrong with her people that allowed Kai’os to become in the first place.

Talitha is motivated, and driven, by a strong sense of justice and a desire not to die. Also, honestly? This is giving her a very unique opportunity to learn more about & be exposed to new kinds of magic & that is always a plus in her book.

Aishlynn is motivated by atonement and responsibility. These are both driven by the guilt she feels at having a hand in Kai’os’s rise, no matter how small a hand it was.
