that post about your cousin Abe reminded me, i read Caracal Carousel recently (great work on that btw) and spent the entire story wondering, is it pronounced Abe as in Honest Abe (one syllable) or Abe as in Shinzo Abe (two syllables)
First one, one syllable, tho I’ve had multiple ppl tell me they’ve thought it was the second one and I don’t care too much either way how ya choose to pronounce it

Thinking about all the little weird things I added into my stories for basically no reason
Abe lives in a neighborhood set aside for people who are on probation or something. I’m pretty sure he lives in a human-built house which is distinctly not the same as housing in most of the hidden city. Hidden city housing is a bit more fluid and inherently magical. But Abe’s place is a house which was literally stolen from the human world, using magic to pull it into the hidden city just so that they wouldn’t have to spend their own higher quality but limited resources housing the antisocial ex-prisoners who are on thin ice.
None of this is really important or even anything I meant to get into in the story. I think I implied some of it via Donnie‘s description of the neighborhood. That the houses looked eclectic and strange because they looked like human architecture taken from all over & stuff. but I truly never intended to explain that. Like it isn’t even in the story outline at all. It just kind of happened while I was trying to describe where he lived.
Thinks about Abe and Blythe and blows up the whole world. God they suck so much.
