I have several WIPs that I'm working on rn, but as you're a fellow braime shipper, I'm going to tell you about one specifically: The Man in the Lion Mask. The title might give you a hint that this is a the man in the iron mask au! In this fic, the Lannister twins turn out to be the mad king's bastard children! And when Robert dies, Cersei dearest reveals the truth and makes claim to the throne, and Jaime is crowned king. But things happen (I won't spoil you 😏), Cersei betrays Jaime, and he ends up in a black cell under the red keep for years.

And guess who is going to rescue him, take care of him until he regains his strength, all the while pinning for each other? Could it be the Maid of Tarth? Perhaps 😏

The Targaryen dynasty is not yet over nor is the battle for the Iron Throne. When old, dirty family secrets are revealed, the entire realm is shocked to find out that the heir to the throne is no other than The Kingslayer himself. 

Cersei seethes with envy, having the throne at her hand reach, and yet, unable to sit on it. She is willing to do whatever she must to take it… even if that means to betray her twin.

For today, I have the 6-sentence synopsis of a yet another Braime fic I'm working on. The idea came up while commenting back and forth with the author of one of the fics I'm reading on Ao3 right now. I don't know how popular this theory might be but she and I believe that it could be possible that Jaime and Cersei are Aerys' children (there's the theory that Tyrion is the one, I know. Also possible). Anyway, after thinking about how could it work if it's true, the lightbulb went on 💡and it fancies me to do a "The Man in the Iron Mask" sort of au.

So here it is...

THE MAN IN THE LION MASK

Presenting to you six sentences x 2 today. This is a bit I wrote this morning for my camp nano project, The Man in the Lion Mask.

MYRCELLA

Seven years is little time to amass the wisdom that Princess Myrcella is credited for. On occasions like the present is when her precocious understanding of the world is glaring.  She heaves a quiet sigh, listening to his older brother throwing a shameful tantrum about not being the next king. Their mother had explained to Myrcella, Joffrey, and Tommen that she recently discovered her true blood lineage, hers and uncle Jaime's. They were natural children of the late King Aerys and, therefore, heirs to the throne.

Now that King Robert is dead, Joffrey as firstborn should take the crown, but due to the revealed truth of his parentage, it'd be Uncle Jaime instead.

"You told me that when my father died, I would be king!" Joffrey spats petulantly with his cheek flushed and a cold glare in his green eyes.

Joffrey is more upset about losing the crown than about Father's death. A truthful even if a little unkind thought. In truth, Myrcella reflects on her grief, which is not that great either. She's sad that he's dead but the king had hardly paid attention to her, nor Tommen. Joffrey as the heir received more attention but even so, it was sporadic and negligent.

The anticipation is palpable and the cacophony of a thousand people talking at once is overwhelming. Brienne stands to the left side of the throne room near her father. He's in deep conversation with Lord Penrose, Lord Caron, and Lord Velaryon, who like him have come to the coronation and to bend the knee. 

An act that conflicts her. She understands that by swearing fealty to King Jaime her father seeks to protect Tarth from the Crown's wrath, but it leaves a sour taste in her mouth. How can anyone give allegiance to the Kingslayer when his crime is to have killed the king he swore to protect, knowingly or not that he was also his father?  She still doubts his supposed ignorance of that fact. It matters little. He committed treason nonetheless.
