Compassion - Teo and Soyou
The boy sits on the wall, perched high enough that the toes of his shoes barely scuff against the surface of the road. Less people walk past the hospital these days, and thats because some of them come in the doors, and never come out. Others aren't so lucky and they're dying limp and cold somewhere in a abandoned building. Through the crowd of legs, walking in directions unknown, movement catches his eye. It's small and brown, but any breed of dog has long since become unrecognizable. Hardly any one kept pets anymore, they could barely afford to keep themselves alive.Â
But the puppy stumbles, shrinking back after someone almost steps on it. Its fur is pulled tightly over its ribs, and Teo feels a pang of compassion that twists uncomfortably in the middle of his chest. He's gravitating over to it, for no one else even glances in his direction.Â
He crouches down, long hospital coat dragging against the floor as he holds a hand out, tiny fingers stretching out in the puppies direction. "Hey." He murmurs softly, pushing strands of long hair behind his ears, wiggling his fingers and trying to entice it to come to  him. "It's okay. I won't hurt you. I bet you're hungry huh?" He questions.Â
The puppy is just out of reach, uncertain, afraid just like everyone, and it's Teo's nature to want to help, he is a nurse after all. But everytime he tries to pick it up it scuttles backwards.Â
