Story time: I started this back in late November of 2017 for a final project in a class I was in at the time. I wanted to go out with a bang for this last project so I drew this weird picture of animals in a bar on a 14x17 inch Bristol board. I normally did 9x9 sized drawings for that class but I’m extra af and thought that bigger was better for this particular thing i had in mind. Critique day came and I was still working on it but had to just turn in what I had because yolo xD I’m lucky critique time didn’t go as bad for me as I thought lol I didn’t take that much of an L since I still got a fairly positive reaction from my professor and classmates xD so once finals were over I started to work on it again since I just wanted to make a dope-ass drawing. For months I was on and off again working on this because I couldn’t be satisfied. Then sometime last March I said screw it and left it alone before I ended up ruining it or something. Still to this day, I consider this thing unfinished. There’s so much I can still do to it. Maybe one of these days I’ll fix it up some more but for now imma just focus on ideas for other projects i have in mind. Can’t always be dwelling on the past, so it’s for the best that I chose to abandon it for now. I guess this drawing also serves as a metaphor for how we ourselves are all works in progress. There’s always something we can do to be better versions of ourselves. But we gotta take things one thing at a time, and work at our own paces. It’s okay if you ain’t a completed work of art, metaphorically speaking. We got our whole lives to make something of ourselves that we can be proud of. We just gotta work on it. Idk where else I’m going with this but I wanted to end this on a positive and inspirational note with it being New Year’s so yeah, just keep doing your thing and don’t let things of the past hold you back to far from your present and future. Let’s be real, it’s not like you really need New Years as a reason to make a change but let it be motivation to do so if you need it :)
