Got to stuff my car today with 10 bookbags filled with school supplies for a local middle School. They are a title 1 school and have a Blessings program that helps homeless and at need children attending. This particular lot is going to the 8th grade children who will be headed to high school next year. I organized this with other Hilton Garden Inn hotels and @intuitiveentertainment in the area for donations. We were also able to give out gift cards so the kids could buy shoes or clothes for their 8th grade dance and graduation. If I could do this for a living I would be so happy. Everyone who donated is so awesome. So proud of my staff at work. I came to them wanting to do a bookbag school supply drive for the middle School. There are 8 homeless kids who will be going to high school next year and we are filling up these bookbags with school supplies. I don't know if the high school has a blessings program (but you know I'll find out) and I wanted them to be taken care of next year. So my coworkers showed up big time. We filled 10 bags and this wagon and I'll get to deliver it to the school next week. Check with your local schools guys, especially if they are a #Title1 school. That means that a large percentage of their kids participate in the free/reduced lunch program and that also may mean that a small percentage may only eat at school or are homeless. If you rally your friends or coworkers together it's an easy thing to do or go pay off some lunch debt.
