Copper. It was in his mouth. It was all he could taste or smell. Every now and then when his tongue struck the gash in his lip, it all started over. Exhaustion had set in long ago and by this point he was using his sleeve as a rag, slipping the damp cotton over split skin to dry it, however temporary that may be.
Why had he stood there and let the punch hit its mark? He could’ve ducked or moved to the left of the tall brutish boy. Instead he’d just stood entirely still and took the hit. He made no effort to run after he fell to the floor, despite the few remaining nerves in his body screeching for him to. He’d merely stood back up and fixed Tanner with a mostly vacant expression- blank aside from the searing hatred. What had been the point? He wasn’t sure of it himself. Maybe he was just tired of fighting.
Alisx shrugged himself out of his misery reminiscing and, after wiping his mouth clean for the fourth or fifth time, knocked on the thick wood door in front of him. He knew Tanner’s schedule more than the other boy could ever even hope to know his. Now was the safest time.
Ha. Safe.
“Hunter? You awake?”
