I made a Titan lady bc we need one
her name is Valla and she eats consumerism for breakfast and will punish all the nasty boys of the universe, or at least those she perceives as nasty boys :-]
Titan FC is LIVE on FIGHT PASS for Titan FC 50 with 2 belts on the line! Lightweights Raush Manfio and Sidney Outlaw clash in the main event. Additionally, welterweights Jose Caceres and Uros Jurisic highlight the co-main event.
It's been a minute since I kept up with Titan FC but they've got a Fight Pass card tonight. I'm a little bit bummed at the lack of top shelf Latin talent on it but there's still some out there to get at the very least intrigued by. Gustavo Balart and Alberto Blas, two of Cuba's top talents, are coming off of their first pro losses as they stroll into this card but I'm still excited to see Balart and whatever adjustments he might've made. It is worth mentioning, perhaps time and time again, that Balart is an attraction if for no other reason than by being MMA's closest thing to a fighting dwarf. Raush Manfio has won 6 of his last 7 fights (the loss is to UFC/DWTCS signee Matt Frevola) and is attempting to make his second defense of the Titan FC lightweight title. He's facing Sydney Outlaw who fought on the Contenders Series and has a respectable long tenured run as one of the East Coast's finest regional veterans. Jose Caceres vs Usos Jurisic is the co-main event and Caceres is one of those guys like a Sydney Outlaw who has fought the entire world at this point on the regional scene. Beibit Nazarov's most recent loss was to Lipeng Zhang formerly of the UFC but at 15-2, dude's got a real chance to wind up fighting int he UFC someday. The appeal to Titan FC for me has always been their appreciation and development of latin american and south american fighters and this card has 4 Brazilians, 3 Cubans, 3 Argentinians and 1 Dominican. I'm all about that.
Jose “Shorty” Torres Titan FC Highlight ReelÂ
Jose “Shorty” Torres (8-0) had one hell of a UFC debut, helping Jarred Brooks KO himself. Torres will be fighting this Saturday (August 4) at UFC 227 when he faces off with Alex Perez (20-4).
Jose "Shorty" Torres is a rarity in MMA; a guy who has turned a decorated and genuinely accomplished amateur MMA career into a fantastic MMA run. In just six fights, he's collected titles in Titan FC at bantamweight and flyweight with barely much trouble. He's beaten really good regional level 125ers and 135ers in a variety of ways. To this point, there really isn't much Torres doesn't do well which when combined with his high level upside and athletic pedigree leads you with the feeling that you're watching a big time fighter evolving before you. I'm not trying to comp them as fighters but I haven't felt this excited about a young prospect at 135 lbs since I saw Aljamain Sterling pre-UFC.
Titan FC returns to Fight Pass this Friday and in truth, this isn't the best Titan FC offering. It's light on name talent, light on exciting fresh talents from the Caribbean and South America and Alberto Orellano has little to offer Torres barring something out of this world. That said, even a light Titan FC card has three title fights, the top Hawaiian prospect in MMA in Punahele Soriano and two of Cuba's top unsigned talents in tiny flyweight Gustavo Balart and big time wrestler HW Michel Batista. Above all else, Jose Torres is must see appointment viewing regardless of opponent. Â

Jose “Shorty” Torres vs. Pedro Nobre - Titan FC 43
With the UFC headed to Chicago this June, one can only imagine that Titan FC flyweight/bantamweight champion Jose “Shorty” Torres (6-0) is going to find his way onto that card. They’ve already reached out to him 4 times, but unfortunately the timing wasn’t right due to injury.
The top prospect is arguably the best prospect fighting on the regional scene right now and has been out here handling guys with 4-5x the pro experience that he has. Torres will be defending his flyweight title against Alberto Orellano (6-2) in the main event of Titan FC 48 this Friday (Feb. 16) which will air on Fight Pass.
Torres was also kind enough to come on the Dojo Talk Podcast with @cerealsensei, @stogesbrosandhoes, and myself to answer some questions. You can check out our interview with him on Soundcloud, Itunes, or Google Play.
Jose “Shorty” Torres KOs Alberto Orellano in the 1st! Defends Titan FC FLW title!
Put Torres on that UFC Chicago card NOW!
Great performance from Torres. Gets in the pocket and never lets up. Ends the fight on a straight right + left hook to the body with a right hand over the top to put Orellano down!
Gustavo Balart (CUBA) vs Azkenov Zhangeldy (KAZ)
We’re going to get to see if that whole “island of Yoel Romeros” thing bears any fruit as former Cuban Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler Gustavo Balart is making his pro MMA debut after going 1-0 as an amateur. According to Tapology, he’s only 4′11 but he’s an amazing wrestler and dynamic athlete. He’ll be fighting fellow MMA newcomer Carlos Hernandez on the Titan FC 43 card this Saturday (Jan. 21).
