🍫 Taste

Okay, I’ve never had anything like this before: senbei & chocolate combined! What a novel concept. We actually eat senbei quite a bit at my house (an Americanized version) so I could detect the flavor right away. It’s a bit unusual because I’m used to the crackers being strictly savory but, I think it works. The best part of the combo is the texture, nice and crispy :)

The bag also contained too spicy versions of the chocolate which tasted identical...but hot. I don’t like spicy food like this, where the spice contributes nothing to the flavor. It’s just there for mouth torture lol

🍫 Appearance

I was surprised to find the chocolates individually wrapped. On the one hand, this is nice because I don’t feel forced to eat them all at once. On the other, I was disappointed because I got the impression that the spicy chocolates were supposed to be like a roulette game. Nope! They just tell you which is which. Lame. The chocolates do look identical on the inside so I suppose you could hide the wrappers for a surprise. 

🍫 Packaging

The front of the bag proclaims “We put kaki no tane in Tirol choco!” I’m guessing there’s a normal Tirol choco as well. The bag has cute little kaki no tane mascots all over it: normal happy ones and distressed spicy ones lol

Another fun website. You can download Tirol Choco wallpapers, find out how the chocolates are made, and look at all the seasonal/regional flavors. They also have a recruiting site for people who want to work for the company (it’s very cutesy for a business site).
