Be it ever so humble there’s no place like a home studio! At just 190sf of creative space, I really could use 10x more, but with only about 100 feet between here and home, you can’t beat the convenience! . . ! #artstudio #tinystudio #cutedog #tucsonartist #tuffshedstudio #metalsmith #landscapepainter #tucsonartist with special appearance by @daisy_piepie https://www.instagram.com/p/CdEvcPMvMat/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Just a fun little corner from my stdio with a lovely painting gift from a student, a drawing from my grandson, my palette, some flowers... the real stuff studios have in them. #art #artstudio #tinystudio #create https://www.instagram.com/p/CFc8fZoHgzA/?igshid=f7tt20m66t0j
Mini Structures Experiment
I built tiny models using matchsticks to experiment a structure of how I could build my ‘tent’ or a frame for my modrock. Originally I want to create honey-comb tiles, in a real-life sized tile it would be a frame of metal bits welded together and the modrock chicken wire inside the frame, and together the tiles would make some form of dome-like structure, but minature this had proven difficult! Then I built a second structure by incident just placing sticks ontop of each other and gluing them down. It was really tricky working smaller in this case because it was so delicate and waiting for the glue to dry was time consuming. It took me at least 2-5 minutes for each stick I stuck to another.
I really enjoy this second experimental structure but I wouldn’t be able to put the chicken wire and modrock on effectively, so I’m thinking back to more traditional or simple structures again.
I also tried making a prism shaped structure, this could work as a frame but again because it was so small and delicate on this ratio it was difficult to make several without the help of a second pair of hands!
This experiment was good to test out, I enjoyed the light that seeps through, but unfortunately I don’t think it would be a good structure for me to create on a larger scale because of my aims in the tent and creating a space to display my emulsion photos, and the modrock and chicken wire. I could always try working further more with my chicken wire and molding it in certain ways but because I ran out of space and materials a while ago I haven’t been able to test this further.
To conclude this experiment, I think working on concept photos have proven easier in my circumstances and I think the concept photos worked really well to envision what I could develop in future!
Experiment 7 - Tiny studios
After a teams call with Jo, we’ve discussed the circumstances of me being in a tiny space and having limited materials and what I could do, through discussion we talked about a minature almost doll like studio space and how I can try to experiment how to make my tent if I were to exhibit in real time AND working minature means I’m saving space and materials, but even then my room is so tiny my tiny studios take alot of space! It creates a concept for what I could build in a bigger space in future or if I had the space.
From the photos of the tiny studio spaces I don’t think you can tell that they’re small tiny studios so I think this will work well. I can create different forms of displaying my tent and experiment with this further.
I actually re-did this twice I get so nitty gritty about trying to perfect edges and small bits. Tiny isolation studios!
