Last night we decided to make a little detour and spend the night north of the Arctic Circle. I would venture in saying that we are the first tiny house ever to drive that far north! The Arctic Circle is the southernmost latitude in the Northern Hemisphere at which the sun remains continuously above the horizon on summer solstice and below on winter solstice. We reached it by driving north from Fairbanks on the Elliot Highway followed by the Dalton Highway. The latter road was created specifically for truckers so they can haul equipment and supplies up to Deadhorse in Prudhoe Bay, which supports the oil platforms in the Arctic Oceon. In other words, it's the bumpiest road we've been on (75% of it's 414mile stretch remaining unpaved). We turned around at the Arctic Circle (115 miles in) as the road gets worse from there. People let the truckers drive by as they go way faster and it's their road really. Another interesting fact about this road is that it is parallel to the Tran-Alaska Pipeline that conveys oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. The pipeline is 800 miles long and is almost always in sight from the Dalton Highway. We didn't see much wildlife except for the few rodents, birds and a gazillion mosquitoes! The moose, bears and caribou most likely fled the wildfires that we passed... To date, it is Guillaume's favorite drive! #ArcticCircle #Alaska #DaltonHighway #HaulRoad #TinyHouse #TinyHouseArcticCircle #TinyHouseNorth #TinyHouseSunset #Sunset #TinyHouseAdventure #TinyHouseExpedition #TinyHouseDirtRoad #TinyHouseGiantJourney #GoalZero @goalzero #SolarLife #GetOutStayOut (at Arctic Circle)
