Day 1 - Transferring 2 Nucs
I successfully transferred both nucs into the hives. I got a bee in my bonnet.. no sting luckily, but damn was that an adrenaline rush! Hightlights:
-I found it difficult to shake all the bees out of the crevices in the cardboard box. For the second nuc, i figured out that I could pry a little flap open in the box that made it easier.
-The bees seemed pissed, with several of them stinging my gloves
-Did I mention I got a bee in my bonnet?!?
I put a medium super with 8 frames on top of each hive, and now need to go figure out the feeders so I can get them sipping some sugar water.
What I could have done better:
-In my excitement I lost all sight of actually inspecting the frames for eggs, larvae, and even the queen. So, I have no idea if she’s in there. It started to rain right as I was transferring the first nuc.. so once that started happening I felt rushed and forgot to really inspect much.
