Introducing: The Drumi
When you’re considering tiny house living, you have to find sustainable, affordable, and for lack of a better word, tiny solutions for every day chores. Like laundry! Everyone hates it and if you’re anything like me, sometimes it piles up for a minute. Obviously piles of laundry on the floor of your very tiny space is not an appealing option, but going to the laundromat three times a week is not efficient financially, nor is it environmentally friendly.
There are many options on the market for small laundry solutions, but this one is fairly new. Environmentally friendly and quite affordable, the Drumi has the potential to lessen the impact our laundry has on the environment. Using a little over 2 gallons of water per load and no electricity, the drumi will reduce your carbon foot print and your utility bills! Honestly, I wouldn’t hate having this for our current apartment!
The Drumi holds about half of what a normal washer can. I see that as incentive to keep up on laundry and not have it clutter the house. Doubling as a clothes hamper when not in use, the drumi can handle a number of undergarments and t-shirts, though it is recommended that only one pair of jeans be washed at a time, and towels, sheets, or blankets should not be washed in the drumi.
While you’d still have to find another solution for items that can’t be washed in the Drumi, this tool would drastically reduce the frequency of that. I also love that you could use a natural, environmentally friendly detergent and easily recycle the grey water from your wash.
One of the best parts, the Drumi is powered by a foot peddle! the loads take between 5 and 10 minutes and you just peddle your heart away while the Drumi agitates your clothes! Think of your thighs of steel!
Also, the Drumi is less than $250 dollars! We’re hoping to grab one up soon! It’s currently only available for pre order and you may wait a while to get your washer, but Here’s the link you need!
