#tiny pretty things rant

So!! I’m pretty sure that many of you, like me, heard about Tiny Pretty Things, not through Strong Black Lead’s little post a month ago but instead through Netflix’s promotional videos and clips for the series. Based on several other people’s posts, many of us assumed Naveah would be the lead character. I genuinely don’t think she was. In the end, the character that probably ended up having the most screentime was Bette. Everyone has their thoughts on her and honestly I was surprised to find that she was one of my favorite characters at the end. I guess,,, my main points of contention was how difficult it was to like each character and not even just because of story but mainly because of acting. 

- June could not act and I was so very confused with a lot of the directions they took her character. I don’t know how it happened but her best acting was during the assault/rape storyline

- Shane stole the show from the very first episode and consistently remained my favorite character. It’s,, upsetting that he was the reason Naveah talked to her mom and he seemed to be closer with both her brother and mom and Naveah was. 

- Caleb is a horrible character and if not for June, he’d be my least favorite character. But the whole.. him and Madame having a relationship was so uncomfortable, pedophilic, and just downright horrible. It’s so damn weird how even at the last episode, their pedophilic relationship is the only one fully fleshed out and addressed [while that scene at the end was uncalled for and I definitely hated].

- This is a big spoiler but Ramon possible being June’s father was so halfassed and I hated it :)

- Cassie was such a bitch I hated her I’m sorry but it would have been better if she wasn’t alive at the end. It gave pretty little liars. And I hated her narration after the third episode. 

- Bette had the most character development... Her and Matteo were super cute.

- Oren needs to figure himself out before trying to be in a relationship with Naveah. Truly. And I’m very angry with how Naveah handled him telling her he loved her. She’s a dancer and realistically words like that wouldn’t affect how you dance. 

- Anyway the dancing was of course amazing and honestly was the only highlight that I enjoyed throughout the entire series. My favorite piece was the Nina Cried Power piece because Hozier is one of my favorite artists ever hehe.
